Scales for co-compact embeddings of virtually free groups

open access: yes, 2006
Let $\Gamma$ be a group which is virtually free of rank at least 2 and let $\mathcal{F}_{td}(\Gamma)$ be the family of totally disconnected, locally compact groups containing $\Gamma$ as a co-compact lattice.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

On approximating the modified Bessel function of the second kind

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In the article, we prove that the double inequalities π e − x 2 ( x + a ) < K 0 ( x ) < π e − x 2 ( x + b ) , 1 + 1 2 ( x + a ) < K 1 ( x ) K 0 ( x ) < 1 + 1 2 ( x + b ) $$ \frac{\sqrt{\pi}e^{-x}}{\sqrt{2(x+a)}}< K_{0}(x)< \frac{\sqrt{\pi }e^{-x}}{\sqrt ...

New Applications of the Bernardi Integral Operator

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Let A ( p , n ) be the class of f ( z ) which are analytic p-valent functions in the closed unit disk U ¯ = z ∈ C : z ≤ 1 . The expression B − m − λ f ( z ) is defined by using fractional integrals of order λ

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Some properties of k-gamma and k-beta functions

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2016
In this paper, firstly, we introduce the several definitions of classic gamma function and beta function, and the several definitions of k-gamma function and k-beta function.

Optimal bounds for the generalized Euler–Mascheroni constant

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2018
We provide several sharp upper and lower bounds for the generalized Euler–Mascheroni constant. As consequences, some previous bounds for the Euler–Mascheroni constant are improved.

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive
