GAMMA RAY INDEX–SHALE VOLUME TRANSFORMS
SPWLA 62nd Annual Online Symposium Transactions, 2021Although a relationship between gamma ray log response and shale volume had been recognized since the introduction of gamma ray logging in the late 1930s and early 1940s, the formula for gamma ray index, and the equating of gamma ray index to shale volume apparently appeared in the late 1960s. Contemporaneously there appeared three similar, alternative,

Components of the flood-field uniformity index in a gamma camera
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1996The flood-field uniformity index has been investigated as a function of the total number of counts and the image matrix size. The analysis showed the dependence of the NEMA integral uniformity index on the counting statistics. A linear model to determine the noise-free component of the uniformity index that was applied successfully to the experimental ...

The gamma-ray spectral index changes for blazars
Science China Physics, Mechanics and Astronomy, 2012Based upon Fermi 1FGL and EGRET 3EG samples, a sample including 79 blazars (53 FSRQs, 26 BL Lacs) is presented. It is investigated that the correlations between the ratio of EGRET to Fermi blazars γ-ray flux densities and the spectral index differ for EGRET to Fermi blazars for three subclasses of high-frequency peaked BL Lacertae objects-HBL, low ...

In IMRT, the method for a quantitative comparison of two-dimensional dose distributions is still under development. The gamma evaluation method proposed by Low et al is the most accepted approach and has been adapted by many groups. Based on the concept of Low et al we developed a software tool with an intelligent search algorithm to minimize the ...

Atherogenic index of plasma and the gamma gap: Considerations by physical activity
International Journal of Cardiology, 2016Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), calculated as LOG10(triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol), is utilized to predict risk of cardiovascular disease. An elevated (≥3.1g/dL) gamma gap (total protein (g/dL) - albumin (g/dL)) is associated with cardiovascular disease.

Efficient gamma index calculation using fast Euclidean distance transform
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2009The gamma index is a tool for dose distribution comparison. It combines both dose difference (DD) and distance to agreement (DTA) into a single quantity. Though it is an effective measure, making up for the inadequacy of DD or DTA alone, its calculation can be very time-consuming.

Diagnostic Accuracy of a Simplified Interferon-Gamma Composite Index for Tuberculosis
Clinical LaboratoryTuberculosis (TB) is one of the most severe infectious diseases worldwide, making early and accurate diagnosis critical for improving patient outcomes. The interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) is a commonly used diagnostic tool for TB. This study aimed to develop a simplified composite index to enhance the diagnostic accuracy and performance for TB ...

Influence of Gamma Radiation on the Gel Rigidity Index and Binding Capability of Gelatin
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1988Changes in the rigidity indices of gelatin gel before and after gamma irradiation were characterized by dynamic mechanical testing, and the significance of these changes on the strength of granules was evaluated. Results illustrate the difficulty of obtaining reproducible values for gels containing less than 20% gelatin.

Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, 2011
Neuronal synchronisation at gamma frequencies (30-100 Hz) has been implicated in cognition and memory. Gamma oscillations can be studied in various in vitro models, but their in vivo validity and their relationship with reference memory remains to be proven.

Sensitivity Analysis of Gamma Index Calculations for Dosimetry Audits in Advanced Radiotherapy
2024 46th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC)Gamma Indices are a widely used metric for the comparison of measured and predicted doses in dosimetry audits for advanced radiotherapy. Various steps in the measurement pipeline and analysis approach, as well as different computational models to calculate the gamma index, can introduce variability in the results.
