Resuscitation of Microorganisms after Gamma Irradiation

Radiation Research, 1999
Microbiological analysis of rock exposed to gamma-radiation doses between 0 and 9.34 kGy indicated that some microorganisms became viable but nonculturable (VBNC) and lost metabolic capacity as measured by BIOLOG microtiter plates. To investigate this phenomenon, portions of irradiated rock were placed at 4 degrees C for 2 months in an attempt to ...

Storage behaviour of gamma-irradiated mangoes

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1961
Fully grown and green Alphonso mangoes were picked and packaged in polyethylene bags individually, each bag having 12 respiration vents. Half of the fruit were irradiated with 12,000 rad of cobalt-60 gamma rays on the day of picking. The dose rate was 120 rad/min.

Gamma-irradiated Chymotrypsin-like Proteins

International Journal of Radiation Biology and Related Studies in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine, 1977
The chymotrypsin-like proteins (chymotrypsin-CT,chymotrypsinogen-CTG, trypsin-T and modified chymotrypsins-at Met 192-MCT and at Tyr 146, 171-TCT), gamma-irradiated in the presence of air, were investigated. Irradiation leads to the unfolding of the native structure of CT-like proteins both in solution and in the dry state, which was shown by the ...

Gamma irradiation of chitosan.

Journal of biomedical materials research, 1998
Chitosan has potential biomedical applications that may require the final products to be sterilized before use. The gamma irradiation of purified and highly deacetylated chitosan fibers and films at sterilizing doses (up to 25 kGy) caused main chain scissions.

Gamma irradiation of some unsaturated steroids

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1960
The chemical and physical effects of radiation on some steroids, mainly in the powdered form, were investigated. The steroid hormones, cortisone, prednisone, and progesterone, were found to show high stability to radiation damage to supersterilization doses (6 to 18 Mrad) both in presence and absence of air.

Gamma Irradiation of Starch

2018
As a physical treatment, gamma irradiation has many advantages, such as high efficiency, low-cost, eco-friendship, and no remarkable rise in temperature during the treatment process. The degradation changes of starch by radiation are reproducible and quantitative, without needing special appliances to control temperature and environment. The effects of

Hybridizability of Gamma-Irradiated Lactic Dehydrogenase

Radiation Research, 1976
The hybridizabilities of the gamma-irradiated chicken heart and pig muscle lactic dehydrogenases were estimated by hybridizing the irradiated enzymes with the unirradiated pig heart lactic dehydrogenase. The disc gel electrophoretic patterns of the inter- and intraspecific hybrids showed that the LDH activity of the pig heart isozyme band increased as ...
