The Case of a 28‐Year‐Old Woman With Medically Refractory Focal Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 2, Page 418-423, February 2026.
ABSTRACT We present the case of a 28‐year‐old right‐handed woman with medically refractory focal epilepsy. Her seizure semiology and electroencephalography (EEG) indicated a seizure onset zone in the right central‐parietal area. However, both MRI and PET scans were unremarkable, showing no focal lesions or areas of altered metabolism.

Pediatric brain tumor classification using digital pathology and deep learning: Evaluation of SOTA methods on a multi‐center Swedish cohort

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 1, January 2026.
Deep learning‐based feature extractors pretrained on histopathology images can classify pediatric brain tumors when applied to a multi‐center Swedish dataset. Abstract Brain tumors are the most common solid tumors in children and young adults, but the scarcity of large histopathology datasets has limited the application of computational pathology in ...

Potassium–chloride cotransporter 2 activity dampens induced ictal‐like activity in neocortical slices containing the seizure propagation zone of temporal lobe epilepsy patients

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 1, Page 499-516, January 2026.
The K⁺/Cl− cotransporter (KCC2) limits induced ictal‐like events and their spread in the supragranular layer of human neocortical slices from the seizure‐propagation zone of temporal lobe epilepsy patients. Cl⁻ extrusion is present in supragranular pyramidal neurons but limited under high somatic Cl⁻ load.

Cerebellar Ganglioglioma

open access: yesNeurologia medico-chirurgica, 1991
A 14-year-old boy presented with cerebellar ganglioglioma manifesting as severe headache and confusion. Computed tomographic scans showed a huge, partly enhanced cystic cerebellar tumor. The tumor was totally removed. Histological examination disclosed glial cells and mature ganglion cells.

Low‐grade glial neoplasms of germ cell origin may represent maturation of embryonic‐type neuroectodermal elements

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 88, Issue 2, Page 503-514, January 2026.
Our results support that low grade glial tumours of germ cell origin (LGGTs) represent a phenomenon of maturation (either spontaneous or induced by therapy) of embryonic‐type neuroectoderm, being possibly equivalent to teratoma from a biological perspective.

TUMORES CEREBRALES ASOCIADOS A EPILEPSIA
