Lumbar Synovial or Ganglion Cysts
Neurosurgery, 1986Abstract Most reports regarding synovial cysts of the spinal canal have been presentations identifying an unusual pathological entity that is to be included in the differential diagnosis of cauda equina compression syndromes. Most of the 26 cases reported represent isolated examples of this pathological process.

A Case Report and Literature Review: Intraneural Ganglion Cyst Causing Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome.
Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, 2019Intraneural ganglion cysts are benign mucinous lesions that form within joints and enter adjacent nerves via an articular branch. Despite being morphologically characterized as benign, they can demonstrate considerable intrafascicular destruction and ...

T2-weighted MRI sequences are most suitable to locate cysts about the knee. Further characterization of such cysts in unusual locations or of unusual extent and configuration may require T1-weighted imaging before and after administration of an intravenous contrast medium.

An unusual case of an intraneural ganglion cyst of the hypoglossal nerve is presented. Only one case of this rare clinical entity has been reported previously. A 51-year-old woman presented with a 6-month history of left-sided hypoglossal nerve palsy. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a cystic lesion related to the hypoglossal canal.

Our understanding of intraneural ganglion cysts has considerably improved in the past few years. They usually arise from a degenerated joint. Synovial fluid under pressure exits the joint through an articular branch of a nerve. This can spread retrograde to involve the parent nerve.

Intratendinous ganglionic cyst.
The Journal of foot surgery, 1990The authors present a review and case presentation of an intratendinous ganglionic cyst. This rare entity is discussed with emphasis on its pathogenesis, microscopic anatomy, and clinical occurrence to aid in the differential diagnosis with other cystic type lesions that may occur in the foot.
