Synovial and ganglion cysts of the temporomandibular joint: A case series

open access: yesOral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cases, 2020
In this case series, we present six cases with the initial complaint of pain and/or progressive unilateral pre-auricular swelling. All patients presented at our Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery from January 2000 to December 2018.

Polarization Holographic 4D Phenotyping Reveals Nanoplastic Induced Dysfunction in Zooplankton

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Contaminant‐induced dysfunction in complex aquatic organisms remains difficult to resolve across scales. Polarization Holographic Imaging Microscopy (PHIM) integrates polarization‐sensitive holography with computational volumetric reconstruction for label‐free phenotyping of zooplankton in natural seawater, revealing that nanoplastic stress drives ...

Atraumatic intra‐articular, extra‐synovial ganglion cyst of the lateral knee deep to the iliotibial band: A case report and review of the literature

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Key Clinical Message We highlight the rare case of an atraumatic, intra‐articular ganglion cyst of the lateral knee deep to the iliotibial band that was successfully treated nonoperatively, a pathology yet to be reported in orthopedic literature ...

In Situ Photo‑Crosslinked Functional Bilayer Hydrogel Modulates Local Microenvironment and Remyelination After Optic Nerve Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A blue‐light‐crosslinked bilayer hydrogel was developed for local optic nerve repair. The adhesive GM‐Odex outer layer seals and anchors the lesion, while the non‐adhesive GM‐imid inner layer releases MPDA‐Cle without obstructing CSF flow. This system modulates oxidative and inflammatory microenvironments, supports oligodendrocyte differentiation and ...

EphB1 Receptor Blockade Augments Morphine Antinociception via Inhibiting GRK2‐Mediated µ‐Opioid Receptor Internalization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Administration of opioids activates ephrinB2‐EphB1 receptor signaling. Activated EphB1 receptors induce GRK2‐mediated phosphorylation of MOR at Ser375, which initiates the internalization of MOR and reduces opioid antinociception at the behavioral level. ABSTRACT Opioids are the primary treatment for severe pain in clinical practice.

A rare case of an intraneural ganglion cyst of the median nerve

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasonography, 2023
Intraneural ganglion cysts are a relatively uncommon type of ganglion cyst that can affect peripheral nerves. They are particularly rare in the upper limb, and even more so in the median nerve, with the vast majority of them occurring in the peroneal ...

Immune Modulatory Therapy for Severe Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in a Patient With Mitochondrial Complex I Deficiency: A Case Report

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dengue virus (DENV) poses a serious global health challenge, particularly in cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Patients with preexisting mitochondrial disorders may be at increased risk for complications due to the specific impact of DENV on mitochondrial‐dependent cellular processes and immune function.

A Novel Constitutional TUBB Variant Associated With Familial Malformations of Cortical Development

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Most pathogenic tubulin variants arise de novo in sporadic patients, causing severe brain malformations and significant neurodevelopmental impairment. The resulting reproductive disadvantage typically prevents these mutations from being transmitted to offspring.

Non-identical presentations of Intra-Articular Anterior Cruciate Ligament Ganglion Cysts: A report of two cases and review of literature

open access: yesJournal of the Bulgarian Orthopaedics and Trauma Association
An uncommon cystic, tumor-like lesion of uncertain origin, an anterior cruciate ligament ganglion is encircled by dense connective tissue that is filled with a gelatinous fluid. Ganglion cysts and ACL mucoid degeneration may coexist.

L‐Cysteine and N‐Acetylcysteine Supplementation Improves Clinical Outcome in a Patient With COXPD10

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT MTO1 is a nuclear gene that encodes a mitochondrial protein essential for modifying mitochondrial transfer RNAs (tRNAs) and stabilizing codon‐anticodon interactions to ensure accurate and efficient mitochondrial protein synthesis and oxidative phosphorylation.
