German Adaptation and Validation of the Firefighter Coping Self‐Efficacy Scale

open access: yesMental Health Science, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Firefighters frequently encounter traumatic events in the course of their duties, placing them at heightened risk of developing psychological distress, including post‐traumatic stress disorder, depression, burnout, and suicidal tendencies. Coping self‐efficacy, defined as the belief in one's own ability to cope with stress and recover from ...

Impact of Regional Hepatic Immunosuppression With Budesonide on Bacterial Elimination in Porcine Abdominal Sepsis

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 8, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The liver is essential for bacterial elimination, preventing intestinal bacteria from entering the systemic circulation, and for producing inflammatory cytokines. Glucocorticoids have been reported to exert heterogeneous effects on bacterial clearance in sepsis.

On the History of Hepatic Vein Catheterization

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatic vein catheterization (HVC) in man was first performed 80 years ago in the wake of right‐sided heart catheterization. Several new methods, recognitions and concepts followed, especially the indirect Fick‐method for determination of splanchnic blood flow. Five years passed before pressure measurements were performed and routine HVCs were

Kooperative Redox‐Katalyse der N2O‐Zersetzung mittels auf Co3O4 geträgerten RhOx‐ und CeOx‐Spezies mit kurzreichweitiger Wechselwirkung

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 34, 17 August 2026.
A short‐range Rh‐O‐Co‐O‐Ce interfacial moiety drives low‐temperature N2O decomposition via a cooperative redox cycle. Operando modulated‐excitation XAS with phase‐sensitive detection (ME‐XAS+PSD) tracks rapid, reversible Rh oxidation coupled to Co reduction. Combined kinetics and DFT rationalize the activity trends and identify the Rh‐O‐Co interface as

Valorization of Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) peel for peroxidase production and its immobilization on alginate beads for 2,4‐dichlorophenol bioconversion

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 8, Page 3984-3995, August 2026.
Sodium alginate was modified with EDC/NHS for the immobilization of Yacon peel peroxidase, resulting in a novel biocatalyst for the oxidation of 2,4‐dichlorophenol. Abstract Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) roots are emerging as an alternative source of peroxidase. This study aimed to extract, immobilize, and characterize the peroxidase from Yacon peel,

Assessment of Pulmonary Vascular Impedance in Patients With Severe Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Pulmonary vascular impedance (PVZ) was calculated from clinical PA pressure and RVOT flow velocity profiles. Participants with increased pulmonary vascular resistance have increased PVZ, afterload, and diastolic stiffness. The characteristic impedance (ZC) to mean PA pressure relationship models the effect of proximal vasculature remodeling on ZC for a

Urbanization Drives Patterns of Individual Specialization but Not Dietary Diversity Among Coyotes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Niche partitioning and resource specialization can lead to spatial heterogeneity in trophic dynamics, but little is known about how these dynamics may change across landscapes of varying complexity. Urban ecosystems are characterized by a wider array of both natural and anthropogenic food sources, which can increase predator densities compared to ...

Fire‐induced shifts in activity patterns of predators and prey in the Brazilian Pantanal

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 6, August 2026.
Using camera trap data, we observed that 5 of 6 prey species showed statistically significant changes in temporal activity patterns, while jaguars were the only predator species to adjust activity when comparing pre‐fire and post‐fire periods in an isolated rocky formation in the Pantanal region.
