10th Annual Symposium on Switching and Automata Theory (swat 1969), 1969
This paper continues investigations pertaining to recursive bounds on computing resources (such as time or memory) and the amount by which these bounds must be increased if new computations are to occur within the new bound. The paper proves that no recursive operator can increase every recursive bound enough to reach new computations.

'Now is the time to debride some of our outdated management policies and get on with a modern approach to the business challenge. To do this in business—as in all organic systems—the true need is for interaction, trust, communication, commitment; and a period of gestation in order to close the “managementality gap”.'

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2014
Peripheral nerve injury is a significant problem affecting greater that 1 million people around the world each year and poses major challenges to the plastic and reconstructive surgeon. When primary nerve repair is not possible, several options for management of the nerve gap include a nerve autograft, nerve conduit, and acellular nerve allograft.

AbstractAny system with the basic package is a decider; any decider with directly active perceptual information has the ‘basic package-plus’ and is a ‘decider-plus’. This chapter argues that being a decider-plus is logically sufficient for perceptual consciousness. First, on the provisional assumption that the basic package-plus includes all the purely

Gaps and parasitic gaps in Bavarian
2014This paper explores a syntactic configuration of Bavarian (“Bavarian extraction” (BE)) in which an XP is extracted from a fronted embedded clause and placed in a position in front of that clause. In addition to the gap in the fronted embedded clause, a further gap may be licensed in this construction that represents a position in the matrix clause.

This squib supports Kyle Johnson’s contention that ellipsis is not involved in gapping. However, I note several problems with his specific proposal, suggesting across-the-board movement is not the way to go either. These problems have to do with the symmetric nature of coordination in gapping constructions, and with the nature of gapping in Dutch ...
