On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

Enabling Variant Proteogenomic Assay Development Through a Peptide Target Selection Pipeline and Web Application

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The quantification of key protein variants can guide precision oncology to enable better identification of driver mutations. Bottom‐up assays infer parent protein levels through the quantification of surrogate peptides. Assay methods designed for absolute quantification of protein variants, such as multiple reaction monitoring mass ...

Towards Generally Accepted Performance Principles (GAPP)

open access: yes
In all countries, and at all levels of government, performance seems to lie in the eyes of the beholder. Different individuals looking at the same set of facts come to widely different conclusions.

Testing for Non‐Severe Heritable Platelet Function Disorders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heritable platelet function disorders (HPFD) are a diverse group of bleeding disorders characterised by a primary qualitative defect in platelet function rather than platelet number. HPFD may be broadly categorised according to the severity of bleeding, with Glanzmann thrombasthenia and Bernard Soulier syndrome classically considered severe ...

GAPP: A Proteogenomic Software for Genome Annotation and Global Profiling of Post-translational Modifications in Prokaryotes*

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2016
Although the number of sequenced prokaryotic genomes is growing rapidly, experimentally verified annotation of prokaryotic genome remains patchy and challenging.

Generation of Allogeneic CAR‐T Circumvents Functional Deficits in Patient‐Derived Autologous Product for Glioblastoma

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 6, Page 1521-1534, 15 September 2026.
Clinical trials of chimeric antigen receptor T‐cell (CAR‐T) therapies in glioblastoma have shown limited clinical benefits. Whether this may be explained by the basal quality of CAR‐T products, which are currently generated using patient, autologous T‐cells, has been little explored.

Double faces of pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma—a review of integrated pathologic diagnosis

open access: yesEndocrine Journal
Pheochromocytoma (PCC) and paraganglioma (PGL) are tumors of the adrenal medulla and sympathetic and parasympathetic paraganglia. Both PCC and PGL (PPGLs) are included in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of dispersed neuroendocrine system. The most important

The WHO Classification of Genetic Tumour Syndromes: Considerations for Genetics

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 110, Issue 3, Page 389-401, September 2026.
The WHO Classification of Tumours underpins the diagnosis of neoplastic conditions. The new WHO classification of genetic tumour syndromes (GTS) provides international standards for their diagnosis. This diagram highlights the chromosomal distribution of the genes involved in the GTS covered in this classification.
