Laser Synthesis of Cerium-Doped Garnet Nanoparticles

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The application of a pulsed laser ablation technique for the generation of cerium-doped garnet nanoparticles in liquids is investigated. The morphological and optical properties of the obtained nanoparticles are demonstrated.

Chemical and textural equilibration of garnet during amphibolite-facies metamorphism: The influence of coupled dissolution-reprecipitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Metamorphic equilibration requires chemical communication between minerals and may be inhibited through sluggish volume diffusion and or slow rates of dissolution in a fluid phase.

Distinctive Sedimentary Evolution at the East Edge of the Central Yellow Sea Mud Over the Past 45 kyr: Evidence From Detrital Mineralogy

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The central Yellow Sea Mud (CYSM) is a vital part of the coastal sand and distal mud depositional system in the South Yellow Sea (SYS). Previous studies concerning the sedimentary evolution of this area have almost exclusively concentrated on its ...

A general second order complete active space self-consistent-field solver for large-scale systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a new second order complete active space self-consistent field implementation to converge wavefunctions for both large active spaces and large atomic orbital (AO) bases.

How large are departures from lithostatic pressure? Constraints from host-inclusion elasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Minerals trapped as inclusions within other host minerals will develop non-lithostatic pressures during both prograde and retrograde metamorphism because of the differences between the thermo-elastic properties of the host and inclusion phases.

In Situ Li-In Anode Formation on the Li7La3Zr2O12 Solid Electrolyte in All-Solid-State Battery

open access: yesBatteries, 2022
Li7La3Zr2O12 is considered to be a promising solid electrolyte for all-solid-state batteries. The problem of the poor wettability of Li7La3Zr2O12 by metallic Li can be solved by using Li-In alloys as anode materials.

Structural Properties of Yttrium Aluminum Garnet, Doped with Lanthanum

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
The results from simulation of the structural and optical properties of YAG pure, doped with two ions and four ions of lanthanum, are presented in this paper to investigate the effect of dopants on a crystal. The simulation was carried out in the Quantum

Measurements of mechanical Q in levitated paramagnetic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Thermal noise from test masses, arising both from internal noise in the test mass material and from losses in the suspension wires and their attachments, is a significant factor limiting sensitivity of interferometric gravity-wave detectors.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Cation Exchange Between Piemontite and Garnet in Piemontite-Quartz Schists from Asemi-Gawa Area of Central Shikoku, Sanbagawa Metamorphic Belt, Japan [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2009
In the Asemi-gawa area of intermediate high-pressure and low-temperature Sanbagawa metamorphic belt in central Shikoku, Japan, piemontite-quartz schists are common in which cation exchange between piemontite and garnet has been studied.
