Numerical modeling of the gas lift process in gas lift wells

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
In this paper, one-dimensional and two-dimensional axisymmetric motion of gas, liquid and a gas-liquid mixture in a gas-lift well is studied. Numerical simulation of the one-dimensional model of gas-lift process is considered where the movement in a gas-lift well is described by partial differential equations of hyperbolic type.

A History of Gas Lift Valve and Gas Lift Mandrel Damage and Subsequent Retrofit Gas Lift Straddle Installation in Alaska

SPE/ICoTA Coiled Tubing and Well Intervention Conference and Exhibition, 2014
Abstract In Alaska oilfields, non rig tubing repair has become a viable alternative to rig workovers (RWO). Tubing straddles can remediate tubing by casing ("A" annulus) communication at a tremendous savings in areas where rig workover cost is significant. This paper advances the analysis of more than 400 tubing straddles set since 1985.

New Gas-Lift Pilot Valve Increases Gas-Lift Efficiency

SPE Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference, 2001
Abstract The most important component in an intermittent gas lift installation is the pilot valve. Its selection and proper calibration determine the success of the gas lift design. Recent tests performed in a field scale installation equipped with an experimental well and careful observations of the performance of real wells on ...

Soft Sensing for Gas-Lift Wells

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2004
Abstract This paper considers the use of extended Kalman Filtering as a soft-sensing technique for gas-lift wells. This technique is deployed for the estimation of dynamic variables that are not directly measured. Possible applications are the estimation of flow rates from pressure measurements or the estimation of parameters of a ...

Optimizing Gas Lift Operations Using Disintegrable Gas Lift Valve Plugs

SPE Artificial Lift Conference & Exhibition-North America, 2014
Abstract Artificial lift encompasses approximately 96% of the US oil well market. Of the wells that use artificial lift, 10% use gas lift for production. As gas is injected into the well, the viscosity of the fluid and pressure is reduced, promoting flow to the surface.

Integrated gas lift system optimization

Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering, 2013
An intelligent genetic algorithm has been developed to simultaneously optimize all effective factors, namely, gas injection rate, injection depth and tubing diameter towards the maximum oil production rate with the water cut and injection pressure as the restrictions.

Foamed Gas Lift

Proceedings of SPE Production Operations Symposium, 1991
Abstract Gas lift, a broadly applied method for producing oil, consists of gas injection into production wells to reduce the liquid density in the wells and increase the liquid inflow. Gas lift technology requires large gas volumes to be injected.
