Flow structure of gas–liquid two-phase flow in an annulus

Chemical Engineering Science, 2008
The flow structure of gas--liquid two-phase flow in vertical annulus channel has been investigated. The inner and outer diameters of the annular channel were 19.1 and 38.1 mm, respectively. The total height of the test section was 4.37 m. Nineteen inlet flow conditions were selected, which cover bubbly, cap-slug, and churn-turbulent flows.

Hydrodynamics of vertical two-phase gas-liquid flow

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1993
Hydrodynamics of gas-liquid flow was investigated in vertical pipes of different diameters. Both upward and downward flows were studied in bubbly regime. Local flow parameters (liquid velocity, void fraction, wall shear stress, fluctuation intensities) were measured using an electrodiffusional method.

Flow regimes in two-phase gas-liquid flow

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1993
Experimental data were determined for co-current air-water horizontal flow in a 0.0935 m i.d. pipe. The flow patterns were identified by a combination of visual/video observations, the pressure fluctuation characteristics and a detailed examination of the pressure loss and holdup data. The results together with previous work at 0.0454 m i.d.

Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow in Pipelines

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1990
ABSTRACT A combined theoretical and experimental investigation to study the behaviour and characteristics of gas-liquid two-phase flow in horizontal pipelines is described in this paper. A simple theoretical model was developed to provide predictions of liquid hold-up in equilibrium stratified two-phase flow regimes and ...

Gas–Liquid Two-Phase Flow

2013
Bubble and liquid flow characteristics of bubble-driven gas–liquid two-phase flows observed in various types of reactors in materials processing operations are introduced with many exercises. Heat and mass transfer from a solid body immersed in a molten metal bath is also discussed.

Two-phase gas–liquid flow in horizontal corrugated channels

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2000
Abstract Experiments have been carried out for adiabatic concurrent gas–liquid flow of nitrogen and water through two corrugated test sections. This study examines flow patterns as the gas fluxes are increased. At low gas fluxes two main patterns have been observed: stratified flow for low liquid fluxes and bubble flow for greater ones. The mean wall

On intermittent flow characteristics of gas–liquid two-phase flow

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2016
Flow visualisation experiments are reported for intermittent regime of gas–liquid two-phase flow. Intermittent flow characteristics, which include plug/slug frequency, liquid plug/slug velocity, liquid plug/slug length, and plug/slug bubble length are determined by image processing of flow patterns captured at a rate of 1600 frames per second (FPS ...

A New Method for the Flowrate Measurement of Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow

2006 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2006
A new method for the flowrate measurement of the gas-liquid two-phase flow is proposed. A multi-circle flowmeter is designed based on the measurement principle of the conventional loop flowmeter. Four differential pressure signals are obtained from the multi-circle sensor at different positions. Multi-parameters of the two-phase flow are obtained.
