Two-Phase Flow Model for Numerical Investigation of Impact of Water Retention on Shale Gas Production

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
In this work, a triple-porosity, two-phase flow model was established to fill the knowledge gap of previous models focusing on gas production characteristics while ignoring the impacts of water injection.

Fracturing fluid imbibition impact on gas-water two phase flow in shale fracture-matrix system

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2023
A large amount of fracturing fluid in hydraulic fracturing is imbibed into the shale fracture/matrix, which leads to significant uncertainty in gas recovery evaluation. The mechanism of imbibition impact on the gas–water flow is not well understood.

Application of Imaging Algorithms for Gas–Water Two-Phase Array Fiber Holdup Meters in Horizontal Wells

open access: yesSensors
The flow dynamics of low-yield horizontal wells demonstrate considerable complexity and unpredictability, chiefly attributable to the structural attributes of the wellbore and the interplay of gas–water two-phase flow.

Void Fraction Measurement of Oil–Gas–Water Three-Phase Flow Using Mutually Perpendicular Ultrasonic Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The complex flow structure and interfacial effect in oil−gas−water three-phase flow have made the void fraction measurement a challenging problem.

Gas-water two-phase apparent permeability for inorganic shale pores considering fractal structure and multiple mechanisms of fluid storage and migration

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
The apparent permeability of gas-water two-phase flow in the inorganic shale pore system of shale is a critical parameter for evaluating shale gas production and the flowback rate of fracturing fluid, and its accurate characterization provides a ...

Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Water/Methane Two‐Phase Flow in the SiO2 Nanoslit Can Be Well Described via the Deformed Water Layer Model: A Molecular Simulation Study

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The intricate flow processes in nano‐pores pose limitations on the extraction of resources such as shale gas and gas hydrates. To observe water/gas two‐phase flow in nano‐pores, we employed molecular dynamics simulations on water/methane two‐phase flow ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Study on the mechanism of gas-water two-phase flow in carbonate reservoirs at pore scale

open access: yesPetroleum
Carbonate gas reservoirs generally contain water, leading to uneven water invasion, explosive water flooding and other prominent phenomena, which is an important factor restricting the efficient development of gas reservoirs.
