The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1966
This article deals with a remarkable phenomenon in chemical-phase theory, i.e., the limited mutual solubility of gases, which was predicted by van der Waals and first demonstrated by Krichevskii in the nitrogen—ammonia system. The phase behavior in question is characterized by a peculiar course of the critical locus in some systems for which the ...

Lattice Gas with a Liquid-Gas Transition
Physical Review Letters, 1990Summary: We discuss a new momentum-conserving lattice-gas model in which particles are allowed to exchange momentum between distant sites. The interactions may be tuned so that a first-order transition occurs between a dense and a light phase. An equation of state may be predicted with the assumption that the lattice is in a factorized state just after

Medicine surrounds us. Like a second atmosphere it's every. where, permeating into everything. Go to work, it's medicine. Come home and read the paper, there's medicine on the front page. Open a magazine, there's illness everywhere. Turn on the television, and a thousand fly on the wall docu-soaps scream out at you.

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1966
A review is given of the present status of gas discharge lasers, with particular attention to developments reported in 1965 and early 1966. Following a brief history, gas lasers are classified by types-neutral atom, ion, and molecular-and a comparison is given of the properties of the various types.

The electron-nucleus interactions have been studied in Ga-substituted ferric borate at the temperature of 4.2 K by the technique of the NMR of ??????Ga, ?????Ga nuciei. Indirect hyperfine fields have been for the first time es?? timated for gallium nuclei in this compound. The fields obtained are compared with fields in orthoferrities.
