Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

A rare gas-containing lumbar synovial cyst treated by percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic cystectomy: A case report and literature review

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2023
Spinal synovial cysts are rare entities for which standard surgical strategies are inconsistent. Here, we present an uncommon intraspinal gas-containing synovial cyst treated by percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic cystectomy.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Sur la route de la guerre totale sur le front ouest : l’armement et ses utilisations entre 1914 et 1918

open access: yesLer História, 2014
The Great War innovates in the production of instruments of war in a never before basis. Tactical blocking greatly influenced the Western front. Trenches, forming a completely closed system, that could only be overcome by surprise (gas and tanks) or ...

A Study of Chaotic Behavior of Heat Transfer In Gas-Solid Fluidized Bed [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2010
Fluidized beds are characterized by high heat transfer rates between thebed and internal surfaces and have uniform temperature distribution that can beachieved in fluidized bed systems. In the same time there is a chaotic behavior ofhydrodynamic and heat

Subretinal gas [PDF]

open access: yesEye, 1990
Two cases of subretinal gas are described. The circumstances in which this complication arose are important in understanding the mechanism by which gas gains access into the subretinal space. Evacuation of subretinal gas by posturing should be avoided as this leads to an increase in the extent of the retinal detachment and its extension anterior to ...
