Fundamentals of Gas Discharge

2016
The basis of gas discharge, and the collision and movement process of charged particles in gases are expounded in this chapter where parameters such as collision, attachment, drift and diffusion and transport process of electrons are also analyzed.

Gas discharge in hexamethyldisiloxane

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1976
A method of making thin polymer (polystyrene and polysiloxane) films by glow discharge is described. The thickness of the films varies between several hundred angstroms and a few microns. The parameters of the method are studied: pressure, frequency, current density in the discharge and discharge time.

Chaos in gas discharges

International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS), 1993
Summary form only given. Potential relaxation oscillations in filament cathode discharges at very low pressure is examined by comparing experimental results from different discharge arrangements with particle-in-cell simulations and with a model based on the van-der-Pol equation. The filament cathode discharge has two stable modes of operation: the low-

Discharge noise in gas

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1974
This paper discusses the phenomenon of moving striations in gas laser discharges and reports on an experimental study of frequency spectra of the discharge current and laser power output for hot and cold cathode laser tubes.

Sintering in Gas Discharges

Nature, 1968
THE application of gas-phase glow discharges to the activation of many chemical reactions is becoming increasingly important but the parallel application to various aspects of the processing of materials is not as yet so well known. Dugdale1 has described the mechanism and characteristics of the d.c.

Microwave gas discharges

Electrical Engineering, 1950
The microwave gas discharge has presented a new field for physical exploration. The r e sults of some of these experiments are given here; processes active in a microwave gas discharge are discussed, and a formula is developed for the complex conductivity of the discharge from the known properties of electrons and ions.

Introduction to gas discharges

Plasma Sources Science and Technology, 2000
This is a tutorial article. An introductory discussion of direct current gas discharges is presented. Beginning with basic ideas from kinetic theory, gas discharge plasmas are described in terms of phenomena observed in the laboratory. Various models are introduced to account for electrical breakdown, plasma boundaries and the longitudinal and ...

Gas Discharge Fundamentals

2003
We consider first the collisions of ions and electrons with the neutral atoms in a partially ionized plasma; collisions between charged particles are more complicated and will be treated later. Since neutral atoms have no external electric field, ions and electrons do not feel the presence of a neutral until they come within an atomic radius of it ...

Gas discharge physics

IEE Colloquium on Advances in HV Technology, 1996
The topic “gas discharge physics” is fundamental to electrical breakdown in gases. Many excellent publications provide detailed accounts. In this article, the authors recall contributions drawn from research conducted at the University of Strathclyde (UK) under the direction of David J. Tedford.

Gas Discharge Lamps

2001
Discharge lamps for pumping solid-state lasers are widely used and will be discussed in some detail. In order to be able to design the lamps for optimal performance in applications and in order to design the circuit for a specific lamp, one must know the lamp parameters and their functional relationships.
