Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Numerical Investigation of the Required Quantity of Inert Gas Agents in Fire Suppression Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Inert gas agents have the potential to be widely used in fire suppression systems due to health and safety concerns associated with active chemicals. To suppress fire while minimizing hypoxic effects in an occupied area, the discharge quantity of inert ...

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

Pressure-Dependent Breakdown Voltage in SF6/Epoxy Resin Insulation Systems: Electric Field Enhancement Mechanisms and Interfacial Synergy

open access: yesEnergies
In SF6 gas-insulated equipment, solid dielectrics critically degrade insulation performance by reducing the electric field’s ability to withstand gas gaps.

Gas‐phase peroxynitrite generation using dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure: A prospective sterilizer

open access: yes, 2021
Peroxynitrite is an important chemical in the human immune system, which has high biocidal activity and can resist the invasion of pathogens. Currently, in vitro generation of peroxynitrite faces major technological challenges, especially for gas-phase ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Plasmachemical technologies in biology and medicine: state of the art

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2015
Low-temperature non-equilibrium plasmas have been extensively investigated due to their low-temperature properties and controllability of various agents such as radicals, ions, UV and electric fields, making them suitable for a wide range of biomedical ...

Experimental Investigation of Discharge Phenomena in Electrochemical Discharge Machining Process

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
Electrochemical discharge machining (ECDM) is a promising non−traditional processing technology used to machine non−conductive materials, such as glass and ceramic, based on the evoked electrochemical discharge phenomena around the tool electrode.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
