Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...

Gas Turbine-Based Binary Working Fluid Gas Compression Energy Storage System

open access: yes南方能源建设
[Objective] The efficiency of existing compressed air energy storage is insufficient, and site selection is restricted by gas storage conditions, which hinders large-scale deployment of compressed air energy storage.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Development of a least cost energy supply model for the SADC region

open access: yes, 2004
Includes bibliographical references.Energy plays a pivotal role in economic growth and improving livelihoods. Although better supply of energy does not automatically guarantee an acceleration of human development, it is a prerequisite for it.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Ground-state energy of the unitary Fermi gas from the epsilon expansion

open access: yes, 2008
We update the ground-state energy ratio of unitary Fermi gas to noninteracting Fermi gas (xi) from the epsilon expansion by including the next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) term near two spatial dimensions. Interpolations of the NNLO epsilon expansions around four and two spatial dimensions with the use of Pade approximants give xi=0.360+/-0.020 in ...

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Deterministic cascade evolution in coal and gas outbursts: From early acoustic signatures to system-wide failure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology
Coal and gas outbursts constitute a critical hazard in underground mining operations, characterized by rapid transitions from localized instability to catastrophic failure. Understanding the relationship between initial characteristics and final outburst

Strong coupling expansion for Yang-Mills theory at finite temperature

open access: yes, 2012
Euclidean strong coupling expansion of the partition function is applied to lattice Yang-Mills theory at finite temperature, i.e. for lattices with a compactified temporal direction. The expansions have a finite radius of convergence and thus are valid
