High-density correlation energy expansion of the one-dimensional uniform electron gas [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
We show that the expression of the high-density (i.e., small-rs) correlation energy per electron for the one-dimensional uniform electron gas can be obtained by conventional perturbation theory and is of the form εc(rs) = −π2/360 + 0.00845 rs + …, where rs is the average radius of an electron.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Use of Rolling Piston Expanders for Energy Regeneration in Natural Gas Pressure Reduction Stations—Selected Thermodynamic Issues

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Gas pressure reduction stations are commonly applied to decrease the pressure of natural gas in the transmission pipelines. In such stations, natural gas is expanded in throttling valves without producing any energy.

The role of the Persian Gulf’s natural gas reserves for the European Union’s energy security [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Energy, as a matter of security, is the major challenge during the 21st century. The energy mix in the world will change in the future, predominantly to renewable energy sources, followed by natural gas.

Our gas challenge: the role of gas in Victorian households [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Natural gas in Victoria is the main source of energy for residential heating, cooking, and hot water. Our use of gas has been built on a history of plentiful supply and relatively low and stable prices.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
