Double Fillet Welding of Carbon Steel T-Joint by Double Channel Shielding Gas Metal Arc Welding Method Using Metal Cored Wire

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2017
Low carbon steel material and T-joints are frequently used in ship building and steel constructions. Advantages such as high deposition rates, high quality and smooth weld metals and easy automation make cored wires preferable in these industries.

A Comparative Study of Directed Energy Deposition‐Arc and Casting: Enhancing Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Hot‐Work Tool Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The study investigates the influence of DED‐Arc/M versus casting on the microstructure and material properties of X40CrMoV5‐1 (AISI H13) hot‐work tool steel. DED‐Arc/M yields finer microstructures, superior mechanical strength, and ductility, but slightly reduced thermal conductivity.

Crash Behavior of DP800–DP1000 Advanced High‐Strength Steel’s Dissimilar Resistance Spot Welded Joints Under Quasi‐static and High Strain Rates

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The high‐strain‐rate behavior of resistance spot‐welded DP800–DP1000 joints is investigated. Results show that microstructural gradients across BM–HAZ–FZ govern hardness, strain rate sensitivity, and failure modes. While strength increases with strain rate, energy absorption is controlled by ductility, with DP800–DP800 joints showing superior ...

Axial and Biaxial Fatigue Behavior of 6061‐T651 Cold Metal Transfer Welded Joints

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lightweight aluminum structures in transportation systems are increasingly exposed to complex service loading, yet the fatigue performance of welded joints is still predominantly assessed using uniaxial data. In this work, the axial and biaxial fatigue behavior of 6061‐T651 aluminum alloy joints produced by cold metal transfer (CMT) welding is

Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Effects of Process Parameters on the Bead Shape in the Tandem Gas Metal Arc Welding of Aluminum 5083-O Alloy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
In gas metal arc welding (GMAW), the weld bead shape is an important factor that is directly related to the weld quality of welded joints. This study investigates the effects of process parameters, including welding speed (WS) and leading and trailing ...

Effect of PWHT and Electrical Parameters on Austenitic Phase, Sigma Phase and Corrosion in Duplex Steels S32205

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
Welding power and post‐weld heat treatment (PWHT) at 850°C influence phase transformations in S32205 duplex stainless steel, promoting sigma phase formation and reducing corrosion resistance. PWHT at 850°C also replicates HAZ‐like microstructures in base metal, enabling improved characterization of weld joint properties.
