Carbon monoxide: An old poison with a new way of poisoning

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2012
We present two events of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, which spread out through ventilation pipes to kill or injure neighbors. This is a previously undocumented poisoning process.

Diverse Cation Exchange in Layered Titanate Nanostructures for Tailored Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
H+(H3O+)‐intercalated layered titanate enables stable intercalation of 42 single‐metal and multication combinations. Alkali‐metal intercalation tunes Rh charge density, yielding an efficient propylene hydroformylation catalyst. These results establish a generalizable intercalation platform for rational catalyst design and provide a library supporting ...

Heavy metal challenge in NH3-SCR DeNOx catalysts: Poisoning deactivation mechanisms and enhanced resistance strategies

open access: yesGreen Energy & Environment
Ammonia selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) is the most widely used technology in the field of industrial flue gas denitrification. However, the presence of heavy metals in flue gas can seriously affect the performance of SCR catalysts, leading to ...

Positively Charged Polymer‐Brush MOFs for Large‐Area, Pressure‐Resistant Gas Separation Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A universal POPA strategy enables positively charged polymer‐brush MOFs with self‐adaptive interfacial interlocking to resist aggregation under fast processing. This design ensures seamless dispersion within large‐area selective layers, achieving 1 m‐wide roll‐to‐roll fabrication of pressure‐resistant MMCMs with tunable CO2 separation performance ...

ILLUMINATING-GAS POISONING [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1913
I. THE EFFECT OF FORMALDEHYD ON TESTS FOR CARBON MONOXID IN THE BLOOD In an examination of the blood from the body of a man in which post-mortem showed evidences of poisoning with illuminating gas (especially a brilliant red color of the muscles and blood), the question arose whether formaldehyd, used in embalming the body four days previously, would ...

Oxygen Evolution Reaction Catalysts for Acidic‐Media CO2 Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Acidic‐media CO2 electroreduction (CO2R) could decarbonize chemical production, despite relying on rare‐earth elements for anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Transferring the learnings from mature sister technologies (water electrolysis) could accelerate technological development.

Design and development of an automatic gas poisoning prevention and ventilation system

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
As both carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) exit during a fire, they are obvious indicators for the need to be alert to the possibility of fire.

Inter‐Atomic Synergy on Single‐Atom Alloy Promotes Cyclohexanone Oxime Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrosynthesis of cyclohexanone oxime using renewable electricity offers a greener alternative to traditional energy‐intensive methods. Here, we develop a Fe1Bi single‐atom alloy that delivers 70.9% Faradaic efficiency and 0.94 mmol cm−2 h−1 yield rate through the atomic‐scale synergistic mechanism.

Are Iranians Aware of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Symptoms and Its Prevention Strategies?

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2014
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is still a health problem all over the world. Informing users about symptoms and suggesting annual inspection of CO producing devices will result in CO poisoning reduction.
