Real-Time Monitoring of Trace Gas Concentrations in Syngas

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2013
A Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometer (PTR-MS) was used for the analysis of syngas in an industrial Fischer-Tropsch process. A PTR-MS can detect a variety of volatile organic and inorganic compounds in real-time and with high ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Waste to H2 Sustainable Processes: A Review on H2S Valorization Technologies

open access: yesEnergies
In the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables, the tendency is to benefit from ultra-sour natural gas reserves, whose monetization was previously considered unviable. The increasing H2S content together with the growing concern about emissions

CO2 Removal in Hydrogen Production Plants

open access: yesEnergies
Hydrogen is an industrial raw material both for the production of chemicals and for oil refining with hydrotreating. It is the subject of increasing attention for its possible use as an energy carrier and as a flexible energy storage medium.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Operation optimization of a membrane separation process through auto-controlling the permeate gas flux

open access: yes, 2007
Operating characteristics of a gas membrane separation process were described qualitatively. Various methods of controlling the permeate gas flux were compared.

Influence of solid phase thermal conductivity on species separation rate in packed thermogravitational columns: A direct numerical simulation model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
n this work, a direct numerical simulation model has been proposed to study the influence of porous matrix thermal properties on the separation rate in a model of packed thermogravitational column saturated by a binary mixture. The coupled flow, heat and

A Technical Analysis of the H2 Purification Trains Downstream of Alkaline Electrolyzers

open access: yesEnergies
In view of achieving decarbonization targets, green hydrogen has emerged as a promising low-emission alternative. Typically, green hydrogen is produced by splitting water using various electrolysis technologies powered by renewable energy.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
