Gas Tamponade for Retinectomy in PVR-Related Retinal Detachments: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy, 2017
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the anatomical and functional results in patients with proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) treated with retinectomy and perfluoro-octane gas (C3F8) as a tamponade agent.12 patients with inferior and anterior complicated PVR-related retinal detachment, who were treated with retinectomy, where C3F8 was used as ...

Outcomes and complications of sponges versus tires for scleral buckling in primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment: The Manchester Buckle Study

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page e538-e543, August 2026.
Abstract Purpose To compare preoperative characteristics and postoperative anatomical and functional outcomes of scleral buckle surgery using sponges versus tires, as well as explant‐related complications and the frequency of explant removal. Methods This retrospective study included patients with primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) who ...

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 38, 9 July 2026.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.

Disordered gas exchange in the blood caused by nasal tamponade.

open access: yesRhinology, 1976
The authors have examined the pH, the pCO2, the pO2, and the oxygen saturation of the blood of patients upon whom endonasal surgery followed by tamponing of the nose had been performed. The gas values were examined on the second postoperative day and two days after the tampons had been removed.

A Comparative Study of Vitrectomy Combined with Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling for the Treatment of Idiopathic Macular Hole with Air or C3F8 Intraocular Tamponade

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Purpose. The treatment of idiopathic macular holes has been basically modeled, and vitreoretinal surgery is recognized as an effective treatment. However, the postoperative tamponade of gas will still make the patient uncomfortable and may have related ...
