Modeling Dislocation Cutting of γ′ Precipitates in Ni‐Base Superalloys: Linking Atomistic and Dislocation Dynamics Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocation cutting of γ′ precipitates in Ni‐based superalloys is investigated by linking atomistic simulations with discrete dislocation dynamics. The critical cutting stress is shown to be governed by the antiphase boundary energy, while line tension effects promote edge‐preferred cutting.

ESTIMATION OF EFFICIENCY OF DEEP AIR COOLING AT THE INLET OF GTU BY WASTE HEAT RECOVERY CHILLER

open access: yesАвіаційно-космічна техніка та технологія, 2019
Significant fluctuations in the current temperature and relative humidity of the ambient air lead to significant changes in the heat load on the air cooling system at the inlet of the gas turbine unit, which urgently poses the problem of choosing their ...

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

THERMO-ECONOMIC IMPACT FROM USING EXHAUST GASES HEAT LOST FOR POWERING AN ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION SYSTEM USED FOR INLET AIR COOLING OF COMPRESSOR

open access: yesMağallaẗ Al-kūfaẗ Al-handasiyyaẗ, 2019
The heat lost from gas turbine power plants with exhaust gases represents the most important source for lowering its thermal efficiency. Also, the thermal efficiency of gas turbine can be affected significantly by the ambient surrounding temperature.

Gas Turbine Compressor Unit Application in Sour Gas Field Operation [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 3: Coal, Biomass and Alternative Fuels; Combustion and Fuels; Oil and Gas Applications; Cycle Innovations, 1986
The use of sour gas as primary energy requires constant supply pressure and flow to the gas treatment plant as well as to the pipeline distribution network and consumers. During exploitation of gas fields, when the well head pressure and flow decreases, production continues at increased cost. Application of gas compression
