Fundamentals, Advances, and Applications of Electrospun Nanofibrous 3D Materials

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional electrospun nanofibrous systems offer unique properties and microenvironments. These properties are determined by the fabrication strategies employed and can be adjusted by the incorporation of functional additives to achieve multifunctionality for specific applications. The applications range from the biomedical to the environmental,

Gaseous Elemental Mercury in Air of the Former Mercury Mine and in the Vicinity of the Cement Production Facility

open access: yes, 2022
In this project, we quantify the atmospheric gaseous elemental mercury (GEM) concentrations in Idrija, the former mercury mine and the cement production facility, Salonit-Anhovo, located in Slovenia using three air Hg monitoring techniques, namely; the Tekran system, Lumex RA-915M, and biomonitoring using lichens.

Graphene Materials for Sustainable Energy Applications: A Contemporary Perspective

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Graphene has garnered significant attention as a promising material with great potential for contributing to sustainable energy initiatives, such as RE100 (100% renewable energy initiative) and CF100 (100% carbon‐free initiative). This review aims to explore the potential of graphene for advancing renewable energy applications by highlighting

Interaction of gaseous elemental mercury with snow surfaces: laboratory investigation

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2008
The interaction of elemental mercury with ice surfaces based on the migration behaviour at sub-ppt concentrations in a packed bed flow tube is discussed. Analysis shows that elemental mercury interacts only weakly with ice surfaces and suggests an adsorption enthalpy of -28 2kJmol⁻¹.

Infinite Functional Versatility, Formidable Limits: Evaluating Gallium‐Based Liquid Metals in Rechargeable Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Beyond the hype surrounding the self‐healing properties of gallium‐based liquid metals (Ga‐LMs), this perspective critically examines their functional roles in metal‐ion batteries, highlighting both their underlying merits and the often‐overlooked challenges, including non‐representative design and testing configurations, performance overestimations ...

Locking Ni Atoms in Ordered PtNi for Durable Hydrogen Production: From Electrocatalyst Design to Practical AEMWE Stack Validation

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
DFT‐guided atomic ordering of PtNi intermetallic catalysts enhances HER activity and durability by optimizing hydrogen adsorption and increasing dissolution potential. Experimental validation from half‐cell to practical AEMWE stack demonstrates outstanding performance with less than 2% degradation over 3,000 h.
