Hydrogen Reduction of Synthetic Fe2O3 Pellets: The Role of Calcium Oxide in Porosity Evolution and Reduction Kinetics

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
At 800 °C, hematite pellets containing 0.9 wt% CaO reduce in hydrogen at rates 1.2–1.4 times those of pure pellets. The inward‐moving reaction front supports a topochemical description, and FeO‐to‐Fe kinetics are consistent with mixed control by interfacial reaction and intrapellet diffusion.

Achieving sustainable and durable concrete using high‐volume SiO2: Engineering properties, environmental and economic benefits

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explores the potential of high‐volume amorphous silica (SiO2) replacement for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) in concrete to reduce carbon emissions. Amorphous SiO2, such as silica fume (SF) and CO2 mineralization‐produced Si‐rich gel, offers superior properties to concrete but is under‐researched for its use in concrete with high ...

Environmental Contaminant Accumulation in Freshwater Turtles Inhabiting Three Rivers of the Permian Basin, New Mexico, USA

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Freshwater turtles are valuable sentinels of aquatic systems due to their long lifespans and resilience in environments impacted by contaminants. The Permian Basin, dominated by the oil and gas sector, spans western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, USA, including the Pecos River and its tributaries, the Delaware and Black Rivers.

Progress in bone tissue engineering biomaterials: Development, challenges, and prospects

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Scheme 1 Application of biomaterials in immunomodulation during bone tissue engineering. Abstract Bone defect repair remains a major clinical challenge in orthopedics. Over 2 million cases caused by trauma, tumors, and other factors occur annually, with large‐scale defects posing a particular bottleneck due to limited self‐healing capacity.

Sr2[CN2][NH] – A Carbodiimide Imide

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
The mixed anion compound Sr2[CN2][NH] contains carbodiimide anions alongside imide anions and shares structural similarities with the respective quasi‐binary compounds. The novel mixed anionic compound Sr2[CN2][NH] crystallizes as colorless transparent platelets in the orthorhombic space group Pnma.
