The poisonous truth about the mercury drop test: the effect of elemental mercury on Pd(0) and Pd(II)ArX intermediates [PDF]
The mercury drop test is a widely used method for distinguishing between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis in organometallic systems. However, recent research has highlighted the limitations of this test due to the intrinsic reactivity of some ...

Deployment of a sequential two-photon laser-induced fluorescence sensor for the detection of gaseous elemental mercury at ambient levels: fast, specific, ultrasensitive detection with parts-per-quadrillion sensitivity [PDF]
The operation of a laser-based sensor for gas-phase elemental mercury, Hg(0), is described. It utilizes sequential two-photon laser excitation with detection of blue-shifted laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) to provide a highly specific detection scheme ...

Effect of flue gas purification facilities of coal-fired power plant on mercury emission
The types and concentration of mercury in flue gas of nine coal-fired units were measured by OH method and the mercury content in desulfuration wastewater, slag, fly ash and gypsum were also measured.

A comparison of methyl and gaseous elemental mercury in the urban atmosphere [PDF]
This study was carried out to compare the levels of mercury species, i.e., elemental mercury (Hg°) and methyl mercury (MeHg), in indoor and outdoor air in urban areas in Canada. Offices, laboratories for undergraduate studies, and laboratories for research, in a public building located in the downtown core of the city of Toronto, were selected. Hg° was

Phase boundaries between Co2P and CoP are constructed through a controlled transformation of Co to Co2P‐CoP branched nanoparticles. The polycrystalline mixed‐phase Co2P‐CoP branches are enriched with phase boundaries that stabilize Co active sites for OER. This work highlights phase boundary engineering as a powerful approach to tailor active sites and

Inverse modelling for mercury over Europe [PDF]
The fate and transport of mercury over Europe is studied using a regional Eulerian transport model. Because gaseous elemental mercury is a long-lived species in the atmosphere, boundary conditions must be properly taken into account.

Eddy covariance flux measurements of gaseous elemental mercury over a grassland [PDF]
Direct measurements of the net ecosystem exchange (NEE) of gaseous elemental mercury (Hg0) are important to improve our understanding of global Hg cycling and, ultimately, human and wildlife Hg exposure.

Modeling Dynamic Exchange of Gaseous Elemental Mercury at Polar Sunrise
At polar sunrise, gaseous elemental mercury (GEM) undergoes an exceptional dynamic exchange in the air and at the snow surface during which GEM can be rapidly removed from the atmosphere (the so-called atmospheric mercury depletion events (AMDEs)) as well as re-emitted from the snow within a few hours to days in the Polar Regions.

Adsorption‐Engineered Hydrocarbon Ionomers for Durable Proton‐Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells
Hydrocarbon ionomers suffer from oxidation‐driven interfacial degradation in PEM fuel cell cathodes, leading to catalyst instability. Here, adsorption‐engineered poly(fluorene) ionomers decouple interfacial anchoring from oxidative degradation, enabling strong catalyst–ionomer interactions while resisting electrochemical oxidation.
