Biocarbon Suitability Evaluation for Direct Injection in Blast Furnace Ironmaking

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study examines densified biocarbon for direct injection in blast furnace ironmaking to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG). Enhanced burnout performance, along with favorable reactivity and carbon structure of the combustion residue, supports its suitability for blast furnace injection. Modeling results indicate that up to a 27% reduction in GHG emissions

Reduction, Softening, and Melting Characteristics of Mill Scale‐Based Briquettes for Blast Furnace Ironmaking

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The study evaluates mill scale‐based briquettes, which meet industrial standards for shatter strength and exhibit a low decrepitation index. Despite their limited reducibility in nonisothermal reduction experiments, softening and melting results indicate potential application as a substitute for conventional acidic iron‐bearing materials for use in ...

The Application of Hydrochar Composite Briquettes for Sustainable Slag Foaming in the Electric Arc Furnace Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Hydrochar‐mill‐scale briquettes with varying C/O molar ratios (0.07–0.90) have been tested at 1650 °C to evaluate their slag foaming performance for electric arc furnace application. All seven briquette recipes developed succeed in promoting slag foaming.

Experimental and ReaxFF‐MD Insights Into the Suppression Mechanism of Melamine Cyanurate on Aluminum Dust Explosion

open access: yesSafety Science and Technology, EarlyView.
This study experimentally determined that the critical suppression concentration of MCA for 30 μm aluminum dust is 750–800 g/m3. An atomic‐scale Al/suppressants combustion suppression model was established, revealing the microscopic mechanism that hinders oxidation and combustion of cAl atoms, and elucidating the synergistic physical–chemical ...

Preliminary Study on Unit Commitment for Renewable Energy Integration Considering Operation Cost and Life Cycle Assessment

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, EarlyView.
Most countries, including Japan, are focused on achieving net‐zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, which requires quick action. Despite the increasing level of renewable power generation in power grids, fossil fuel power plants still have a significant role in producing GHG emissions, causing serious environmental issues.
