Assessing the use of ASAP‐MS for Screening a UK Pub for Illicit Drug Substances

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, Volume 61, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Illicit drug use in social environments, such as pubs and bars, has become an increasingly significant issue for public health and safety. These venues often provide a setting where individuals may engage in recreational drug use, resulting in their residual presence on high‐contact surfaces.

Micronuclei and Other Nuclear Abnormalities in Patella Limpet as Biomarkers of Cytogenotoxicity in Recreational Port Waters

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, Volume 41, Issue 11, Page 1125-1138, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Over the past decades, the growth in human population and economic activities has led to an increase in maritime traffic. This rise puts additional pressure on marine environments, vessel fuel spills being considered to have a major impact on the ecosystem.

Reducing Uncertainty in Cradle‐to‐Farmgate Carbon Intensity for Feedstock Using Model‐Data Fusion

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 11, November 2026.
We present a scalable Model–Data Fusion framework that integrates ecosystem modeling with satellite and flux observations to quantify cradle‐to‐farmgate carbon intensity at the field level. The approach reveals large within‐county variability and reduces CI uncertainty by around 50%, enabling policy‐relevant biofuel feedstock accounting.

A Practical Guide to First‐Principles Calculations for Pseudocapacitive Materials: From Electrochemical Experiments to Atomistic Understanding

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 20, 16 October 2026.
Electrochemical experiments reveal what happens, whereas first principles calculations explain why. Emerging computational electrochemistry is bridging these perspectives, enabling quantitative understanding of electrode/electrolyte interfaces and enabling the rational design of next‐generation energy storage materials.

Sulfur Dioxide Point Sources Remain Important for Daytime Plume‐Scale New Particle Formation in the United States: Case Study for Gary, Indiana During the Summer 2023 AEROMMA Aircraft Campaign

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Plumes from sulfur dioxide (SO2) point sources have been shown to be significant contributors to new particle formation (NPF), but SO2 emissions in the United States (US) have decreased drastically by ∼10× since the early 2000s. We present observations of plume‐scale NPF from SO2 point sources over the industrial hub in Gary, Indiana and ...
