Gastroparesis is a chronic disorder with a poorly understood pathophysiology. Dietary and lifestyle modification followed by medical treatment are first line treatment but often fail to control symptoms. Severe gastroparesis is an end-organ failure of the stomach which is often best treated with removal of the diseased organ.
