Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus in Thorax of a Cat
Journal of Research in Veterinary MedicineIn this report, a case of gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV), which has developed after a traumatic diaphragmatic hernia in a cat, has been described. This cat has been taken to three different veterinary clinics and remained undiagnosed. In this process, this cat was diagnosed with a tibial fracture and was applied a bandage procedure under ...

Intracellular magnesium concentrations in dogs with gastric dilatation-volvulus
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 2000Abstract Objective—To quantify and compare intracellular magnesium concentrations (Mgi) in clinically normal dogs (control dogs) and dogs that have gastric dilatation- volvulus (GDV dogs) and to determine whether there is a difference in Mgi and serum magnesium concentrations (Mgs) between GDV dogs with and without cardiac arrhythmias.

Hemodynamics during experimental gastric dilatation-volvulus in dogs
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1983SUMMARY Gastric dilatation-volvulus (at 30 mm of Hg of gastric pressure) was experimentally induced in 8 dogs under sodium pentobarbital anesthesia. Hemodynamic indices including cardiac output, mean aortic pressure, left ventricular end diastolic pressure, heart rate, total peripheral resistance, and dp/dtmax were measured during a 180-minute period ...

Cardiovascular and Systemic Effects of Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus in Dogs
Topics in Companion Animal Medicine, 2014Gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV) is a common emergency condition in large and giant breed dogs that is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Dogs with GDV classically fulfill the criteria for the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and can go on to develop multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).

Gastric dilatation-volvulus in the dog, with emphasis on cardiac arrhythmias
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1982SUMMARY Gastric dilatation was diagnosed in 156 dogs during a 5-year period. The recurrence rate was 10% and the overall mortality was 43%. Large-breed dogs of either sex and ranging in age from 2 months to 15 years (mean age, 5.2 ± 2.9 years) were found to be susceptible to the problem.

CT Features of Gastric Dilatation‐Volvulus in Guinea Pigs
Veterinary Radiology & UltrasoundABSTRACT Gastric dilatation‐volvulus (GDV) was diagnosed in four adult guinea pigs with histories of lethargy and progressive hyporexia. Clinical examination varied between cases and was not specific for gastrointestinal disease. CT revealed a severely gas‐dilated and malpositioned stomach in all cases.

Aortic thromboembolism as a complication of gastric dilatation/volvulus in a dog
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1990An unusual complication of gastric dilatation/volvulus developed in a 10-year-old spayed Great Dane. An aortic thromboembolus lodged in the iliac artery bifurcation 4 days after admission and tube gastropexy to correct the condition. The dog was euthanatized after 48 hours of supportive care failed to elicit any improvement. Thrombus formation appeared
