Extensive peritoneal lavage after curative gastrectomy for gastric cancer (EXPEL): study protocol of an international multicentre randomised controlled trial.

Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2017
Peritoneal recurrence after gastrectomy for gastric cancer is common and the prognosis is dismal. Recent evidence suggests that extensive peritoneal lavage with large volume of normal saline after surgery before abdominal closure can reduce the risk of ...

Evaluation of Gastric Lavage for Stomach Analyses

North American Journal of Fisheries Management, 1983
Abstract The efficiency of gastric lavage for the removal of stomach contents of two species of fish was tested at The Pennsylvania State University in 1981. This technique was effective for 98% of the brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) examined, and 100% for slimy sculpins (Cottns cognatus).

Efficacy of gastric emptying: Gastric lavage versus emesis induced with ipecac

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1986
A prospective study was done to compare the efficacy of gastric emptying achieved by gastric lavage (GL) with that of ipecac-induced emesis (IE) in victims of drug overdose. Thiamine was used as a marker of recovery in gastric samples, as measured by ion exchange/ion pair high-performance liquid chromatography.

A gastric lavage assembly for rapid evacuation of the stomach

The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1971
A gastric lavage assembly has been developed for rapid evacuation of blood clots or pills from the stomach. The design specifications allow irrigation of the stomach to be accomplished with maximal evacuation efficiency. Using the gastric lavage assembly, particulate matter has been evacuated rapidly from the stomachs of 50 patients.

AN APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS GASTRIC OR DUODENAL LAVAGE

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1925
As an adjunct to the treatment of general peritonitis, postoperative ileus, intestinal obstruction and acute gastric dilatation, the use of transduodenal lavage and continuous drainage of the upper gastro-intestinal tract has been highly recommended by Matas, Bassler and others. For this purpose the Jutte tube, passed through the nose, is effective and
