Electrophysiological and behavioural responses of Stegobium paniceum to volatile compounds from Chinese medicinal plant materials

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 78, Issue 8, Page 3697-3703, August 2022., 2022
Four compounds identified from the volatiles of Chinese medicinal plant materials (CMPMs) are perceived by the peripheral olfactory system of S. paniceum adults and are able to individually elicit a positive chemotaxis in S. paniceum adults confirming the role of chemical cues in host‐plant detection and selection of this pest.

SIRT1: A promising therapeutic target for chronic pain

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 28, Issue 6, Page 818-828, June 2022., 2022
SIRT1 agonists can relieve chronic pain through regulating inflammation, oxidative stress, synaptic plasticity, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Activating SIRT1 becomes a promising treatment for chronic pain. Abstract Chronic pain remains an unresolved problem. Current treatments have limited efficacy.

Gastrodia elata powder capsule enhances anti-epileptic effect of carbamazepine by decreasing P-gp expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Purpose: To investigate the influence of Gastrodia elata powder capsule (GC) or gastrodin (GTD) on the anti-epileptic effect of carbamazepine (CBZ) on penicillin (PG)-induced epilepsy in rats. Methods: A total 116 rats were used in this study.

Potential Targets and Action Mechanism of Gastrodin in the Treatment of Attention‐Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Bioinformatics and Network Pharmacology Analysis

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Objective. Gastrodin is a main medicinal component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Gastrodia elata Blume (G. elata), presenting the potential for the treatment of attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However, the underlying targets and action mechanisms of the treatment have not been identified. Methods.

Treatment Combining Focused Ultrasound with Gastrodin Alleviates Memory Deficit and Neuropathology in an Alzheimer’s Disease‐Like Experimental Mouse Model

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia but lacks effective treatment at present. Gastrodin (GAS) is a phenolic glycoside extracted from the traditional Chinese herb—Gastrodia elata—and has been reported as a potential therapeutic agent for AD.

Para‐Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol Delays the Progression of Neurodegenerative Diseases in Models of Caenorhabditis elegans through Activating Multiple Cellular Protective Pathways

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The traditional Chinese medicine Gastrodia elata (commonly called “Tianma” in Chinese) has been widely used in the treatment of rheumatism, epilepsy, paralysis, headache, and dizziness. Phenolic compounds, such as gastrodin, para‐hydroxybenzyl alcohol (HBA), p‐hydroxybenzaldehyde, and vanillin are the main bioactive components isolated from Gastrodia ...

Gastrodin prevents homocysteine‐induced human umbilical vein endothelial cells injury via PI3K/Akt/eNOS and Nrf2/ARE pathway

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 25, Issue 1, Page 345-357, January 2021., 2021
Abstract In this study, we investigated the protective effects of gastrodin (Gas) against homocysteine‐induced human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) injury and the role of the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase (PI3K)/threonine kinase 1 (Akt)/endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and NF‐E2‐related factor 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidant response element (ARE ...

Transformation Mechanisms of Chemical Ingredients in Steaming Process of Gastrodia elata Blume. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
To explore the transformation mechanisms of free gastrodin and combined gastrodin before and after steaming of Gastrodia elata (G. elata), a fresh G. elata sample was processed by the traditional steaming method prescribed by Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 version), and HPLC-ESI-TOF/MS method was used to identify the chemical composition in steamed and ...
