Transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) virus, a coronavirus, causes an acute infection of the small intestine of the pig. The disease is rarely fatal in adult animals but can cause extensive mortality in the neonate. Since its first description in Britain in the 1950s, the disease has been epizootic but recently it has become established on some farms and

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis consists histologically of a purely eosinophilic infiltration of small bowel and stomach walls. This is manifested radiologically in the small bowel as a thickening of the circular folds and wall without mucosal ulceration or any other local abnormality, either over much of its length or in a shorter segment.

The goal to create a standardized diagnostic classification scheme of food-related gastrointestinal hypersensitivity disease syndromes included the diagnosis of eosinophilic gastroenteritis. This article reviews the history of this diagnosis and the current concepts of this complex disorder.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is an infrequently diagnosed condition that is characterized by prominent eosinophilic infiltration of the stomach or small intestine, generally localized to one level of the intestinal wall; the variable organ locus and wall depth produce heterogeneous clinical presentations.

Rotaviruses have proven to be major causes of pediatric diarrheal disease morbidity and mortality worldwide. The past several years have yielded substantial new insights into these viruses, their epidemiology, and the mechanisms of host resistance to them.

Recent epidemiologic studies have shown that norovirus is one of the most frequent causes of acute nonbacterial gastroenteritis. Reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction and nucleotide sequencing are the means by which the hundreds of norovirus strains have been identified, named, and classified into genogroups and genetic clusters.

A 4‐month‐old boy presented with signs of intermittent pyloric obstruction. Peripheral eosinophilia. along with radiographs showing antral‐pyloric and duodenal narrowing, suggested the diagnosis of eosinophilic gastroenteritis. A brief discussion of the disease process follows.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare disease of unknown aetiology characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the gastrointestinal wall and increased peripheral blood eosinophilia. The frequent finding of concomitant extradigestive involvement calls for differential diagnosis to distinguish some multisystemic pathologies, such as connective tissue ...

A review was undertaken of 220 case reports of eosinophilic gastroenteritis involving the gastrointestinal tract, with particular regard to its clinical presentation and management. The stomach was the single commonest site of involvement (43%), while 36% were found to have two or more sites of disease at the time of presentation.
