Effect of Body Mass Index on Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
Background and objectives: The gastroesophageal reflux disease is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge in surgery because of its complicated etiology and pathophysiology. Its incidence is increasing parallel with obesity throughout the world.

Peristaltic flow of a fluid in a porous channel: A study having relevance to flow of bile within ducts in a pathological state [PDF]
The paper deals with a theoretical study of the transport of a fluid in a channel, which takes place by the phenomenon of peristalsis. A mathematical analysis of the said problem has been presented. The analysis involves the application of a suitable perturbation technique. The velocity profile and the critical pressure for the occurrence of reflux are

GASTRO-OESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE: WHAT IS KNOWN, WHERE DO WE GO? [PDF]
The gastroesophageal reflux disease is a common clinical condition that physicians can manage in most cases and sometimes even the patients treat themselves. But not all forms of gastroesophageal reflux are so typical, and some recently described forms

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease [PDF]
Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is a normal physiologic process. It is important to distinguish GER from GER disease (GERD) since GER does not require treatment. Although a diagnosis of GERD can largely be based on history and physical alone, endoscopy and pH impedance studies can help make the diagnosis when there in atypical presentation.

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence to Infer Novel Spatial Biomarkers for the Diagnosis of Eosinophilic Esophagitis [PDF]
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic allergic inflammatory condition of the esophagus associated with elevated esophageal eosinophils. Second only to gastroesophageal reflux disease, EoE is one of the leading causes of chronic refractory dysphagia in adults and children. EoE diagnosis requires enumerating the density of esophageal eosinophils in

Fast electron propagation in Ti foils irradiated with sub-picosecond laser pulses at $Iλ^{2} > 10^{18}$ Wcm$^{-2} μm^{2}$ [PDF]
We have studied the propagation of fast electrons through laser irradiated Ti foils by monitoring the emission of hard X-rays and K-{\alpha} radiation from bare foils and foils backed by a thick epoxy layer. Key observations include strong refluxing of electrons and divergence of the electron beam in the foil with evidence of magnetic field collimation.

An Empirical Comparison of Parametric and Permutation Tests for Regression Analysis of Randomized Experiments [PDF]
Hypothesis tests based on linear models are widely accepted by organizations that regulate clinical trials. These tests are derived using strong assumptions about the data-generating process so that the resulting inference can be based on parametric distributions.

Observational studies have suggested a positive association between gastroesophageal reflux disease and lung cancer, but due to the existence of confounders, it remains undetermined whether gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) has a causal association ...
