Rebleeding rate after interventional therapy directed by capsule endoscopy in patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background The precise role of capsule endoscopy in the diagnostic algorithm of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding has yet to be determined. Despite the higher diagnostic yield of capsule endoscopy, the actual impact on clinical outcome remains poorly ...

A Hybrid Convolutional Neural Network with Meta Feature Learning for Abnormality Detection in Wireless Capsule Endoscopy Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Wireless Capsule Endoscopy is one of the most advanced non-invasive methods for the examination of gastrointestinal tracts. An intelligent computer-aided diagnostic system for detecting gastrointestinal abnormalities like polyp, bleeding, inflammation, etc. is highly exigent in wireless capsule endoscopy image analysis.

Ectopic Pregnancy: An unusual cause of lower GIT bleeding. A case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Acute massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding, when it occurs, may present a diagnostic and treatment challenge to the surgeon. We report a case an ectopic pregnancy that eroded the colon and presented with severe rectal bleeding. The paper discusses the

4D Printed Self‐Deploying Bio‐Based Scaffolds for the Regeneration of Endoluminal Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A bilayer self‐deploying tubular C‐shaped scaffold, made of natural polymers and triggerable by humidity, is fabricated via 4D printing for the regeneration of gastro‐intestinal tissue. The choice of the materials and their spatial arrangement is guided by physical and biological evaluation, whereas the geometry of the structure is optimized through ...

Antiplatelet agents and/or anticoagulants are not associated with worse outcome following nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding emerges as a major complication of using antiplatelet agents and/or anticoagulants and represents a clinical challenge in patients undergoing these therapies.

Enhanced Epithelial Cell Uptake of Glycol Chitosan‐Coated PLGA Nanoparticles for Oral Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Here, glycol chitosan (GC)‐coated PLGA NPs are developed to enhance oral drug delivery by enabling dual‐pathway endocytosis via clathrin‐ and caveolae‐mediated mechanisms. Alginate layering coating on GC‐PLGA further improves oral insulin delivery, achieving sustained glucose reduction in diabetic mice.

Insights into the Dynamics and Binding Mechanisms of the Alkhumra Virus NS2B/NS3 Protease: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
The ΔRMSF$\Delta {\rm RMSF}$ analysis reveals significant flexibility differences between free NS3 and the NS2B/NS3 complex, with notable deviations in specific regions. Key residues driving NS2B binding are identified, and the protonation state of catalytic serine affects oxyanion hole formation.
