Pharmacokinetics of trefoil peptides and their stability in gastrointestinal contents

open access: yesPeptides, 2007
Trefoil factor family (TFF) peptides are considered promising for therapeutic use in gastrointestinal diseases, and there is a need to explore the fate of injected TFF and the stability of the peptides in the gastrointestinal tract. We studied the pharmacokinetics of intravenously (i.v.) administered hTFF2 in mice and rats and of hTFF3 administered i.v.

Effects of neurotensin on the transit of gastrointestinal contents in the rat

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1982
In this study the influence of neurotensin on gastric emptying, transit of gastrointestinal contents and ileo‐cecal emptying was studied in the conscious rat. A bolus of radioactive marker was deposited in the gastrointestinal lumen and was monitored at different time intervals during its passage along the bowel.

Scaling at different ontogenetic stages: Gastrointestinal tract contents of a marsupial foregut fermenter, the western grey kangaroo Macropus fuliginosus melanops [PDF]

open access: yesComparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A, Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2022
Prominent ontogenetic changes of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) should occur in mammals whose neonatal diet of milk differs from that of adults, and especially in herbivores (as vegetation is particularly distinct from milk), and even more so in ...

Alterations in gastrointestinal contents induced by elemental diets

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1979
AbstractThe effects of elemental diets on selected aspects of the rat colon were studied. Forty young male Sprague‐Dawley rats were divided into 4 diet groups of 10 rats each: Purina Rat Chow (control); Flexical; Precision L‐R; and Vivonex. All diets were fed ad lib to rats housed in pairs in wire‐bottom cages.

The Effect of Vagotomy on the Histamine Content of the Gastrointestinal Tract

Archives of Surgery, 1971
The histamine concentration of duodenum and jejunum in rats is lower following vagotomy with gastrectomy or pyloroplasty than after gastrectomy or pyloroplasty alone. These changes may relate to known alterations in postvagotomy gastrointestinal motility.

Radiometric estimation of the amount of solid gastrointestinal contents

Experientia, 1974

Release studies of Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota from chitosan-coated alginate-starch microcapsules in ex vivo porcine gastrointestinal contents

open access: yesLetters in Applied Microbiology, 2005
Aims: To investigate the release characteristics of Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota (LCS) from chitosan-coated alginate-starch (CCAS) capsule in different regions of ex vivo porcine gastrointestinal (GI) contents.

Physical characteristics of gastrointestinal content of llama (Lama glama)

Journal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, 2019
AbstractChanges in digesta dry matter (DM) and mean digesta particle size (MPS) along the gastrointestinal tract are well known in ruminants, but not in camelids. We collected digesta from the dorsal (d) and ventral (v) first forestomach compartment (C1), the second forestomach compartment (C2), three proximal segments and the subsequent glandular part

Endogenous peptide YY is dependent on jejunal exposure to gastrointestinal contents

Journal of Surgical Research, 1990
Peptide YY (PYY), a homolog of pancreatic polypeptide, has been shown to be released after stimulation of colonic mucosa with bile and fatty acids. In this study proximal jejunal and biliary involvement in the regulation of circulating PYY and the distribution of PYY-containing cells in rat intestine was evaluated.

Purification Procedure for the Determination of Niacin Vitameres in Gastrointestinal Contents and Blood

Journal of Veterinary Medicine Series A, 1989
SummaryA solid phase extraction procedure for subsequent simultaneous HPLC analysis of free nicotinic acid (NIA) and nicotinamide (NAM) in dried or liquid rumen and gastrointestinal contents from sheep is described. Twenty‐five mg dried samples were suspended in 1.0 ml of 0.1 mol/l Li2SO4 and centrifuged. The supernatants were passed through two 500 mg
