Alterations in gastrointestinal contents induced by elemental diets

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1979
AbstractThe effects of elemental diets on selected aspects of the rat colon were studied. Forty young male Sprague‐Dawley rats were divided into 4 diet groups of 10 rats each: Purina Rat Chow (control); Flexical; Precision L‐R; and Vivonex. All diets were fed ad lib to rats housed in pairs in wire‐bottom cages.

Physical characteristics of gastrointestinal content of llama (Lama glama)

Journal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, 2019
AbstractChanges in digesta dry matter (DM) and mean digesta particle size (MPS) along the gastrointestinal tract are well known in ruminants, but not in camelids. We collected digesta from the dorsal (d) and ventral (v) first forestomach compartment (C1), the second forestomach compartment (C2), three proximal segments and the subsequent glandular part

Purification Procedure for the Determination of Niacin Vitameres in Gastrointestinal Contents and Blood

Journal of Veterinary Medicine Series A, 1989
SummaryA solid phase extraction procedure for subsequent simultaneous HPLC analysis of free nicotinic acid (NIA) and nicotinamide (NAM) in dried or liquid rumen and gastrointestinal contents from sheep is described. Twenty‐five mg dried samples were suspended in 1.0 ml of 0.1 mol/l Li2SO4 and centrifuged. The supernatants were passed through two 500 mg

Effects of gastrointestinal polypeptides on hormone content of endocrine pancreas in the rat

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1980
Although trophic actions of gastrointestinal peptides on exocrine pancreas have been shown, little is known regarding their effects in endocrine pancreas. Therefore, we measured the contents of somatostatin-like immunoreactivity (SLI), insulin and glucagon, in pancreatic extracts from rats that had been treated three times a day for 10 days with ...

Age-Related Topographical Metabolic Signatures for the Rat Gastrointestinal Contents

Journal of Proteome Research, 2011
Symbiotic gut microbiota is essential for mammalian physiology and analyzing the metabolite compositions of gastrointestinal contents is vital for understanding the microbiome-host interactions. To understand the developmental dependence of the topographical metabolic signatures for the rat gastrointestinal contents, we systematically characterized the

Endogenous peptide YY is dependent on jejunal exposure to gastrointestinal contents

Journal of Surgical Research, 1990
Peptide YY (PYY), a homolog of pancreatic polypeptide, has been shown to be released after stimulation of colonic mucosa with bile and fatty acids. In this study proximal jejunal and biliary involvement in the regulation of circulating PYY and the distribution of PYY-containing cells in rat intestine was evaluated.

Stability of akebia saponin D in gastrointestinal contents of rats

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2014
In order to study the stability of akebia saponin D (ASD) in biological fluids in vitro, the determination methods of ASD were established in this study. Akebia saponin D was dissolved in artificial gastric juice, intestinal juice and gastrointestinal contents of rats, respectively, then thermostatically maintained at 37 degrees C.

[Catecholamine content of tumors of the gastrointestinal tract].

Voprosy onkologii, 1983
The levels of catecholamines (adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine) in gastrointestinal tumors and normal tissue adjacent to malignant tumor were studied. Noradrenaline level in tumor was considerably lower than that in normal tissue. Neither adrenaline nor dopamine level showed any changes.
