On the History of Hepatic Vein Catheterization

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatic vein catheterization (HVC) in man was first performed 80 years ago in the wake of right‐sided heart catheterization. Several new methods, recognitions and concepts followed, especially the indirect Fick‐method for determination of splanchnic blood flow. Five years passed before pressure measurements were performed and routine HVCs were

Perioperative Intravenous Dexamethasone Improves Pain and Functional Outcomes After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair

open access: yesArthroscopy, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation, Volume 8, Issue 4, August 2026.
Purpose To evaluate the effect of perioperative dexamethasone on patient‐reported pain, functional outcomes, and minimal clinically important difference (MCID) achievement following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Methods Patients who underwent rotator cuff repair between 2013 and 2023 were identified and divided into groups.

The Neuroprotective Potentials of Dual GIP/GLP1‐RA (Tirzepatide): From Preclinical Experiments to Clinical Trials: A Scoping Review

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
The graphical abstract summarizes the current evidence on the potential neuroprotective effects of tirzepatide (TZP), a dual GIP/GLP‐1 receptor agonist, across mechanistic, preclinical, and clinical domains. Mechanistically, TZP is proposed to exert direct neural effects, preserve mitochondrial function, reduce apoptosis, oxidative stress, and ...

Up to Four‐Year Outcomes of Single‐Fraction Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Small Brain Metastases: A Competing‐Risk Analysis

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Single‐fraction stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is recommended for small brain metastases (< 2 cm). However, long‐term outcomes accounting for competing risks—particularly death, which precludes observation of local treatment failure (LTF)—remain limited. Methods We retrospectively analyzed cumulative incidences of LTF, defined as

Laparoscopic Management of Ovarian Torsion in the Third Trimester of Pregnancy: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Laparoscopic treatment of right ovarian torsion caused by a mature cystic teratoma at 30 + 1 weeks of gestation. The enlarged, edematous, and cyanotic torsed ovary before detorsion A) demonstrated improved color and turgor after detorsion and ovarian‐sparing cystectomy B), consistent with reperfusion and ovarian preservation.

Synchronous Tumor of Colorectal Adenocarcinoma and Epstein‐Barr Virus‐Positive Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The third reported case of synchronous colorectal adenocarcinoma and EBV‐positive DLBCL in an 87‐year‐old patient confirms the rarity of this synchronous tumor. Despite segmental resection, the patient died from postoperative complications, highlighting the need for multidisciplinary research into pathogenesis and management.
