Laparoscopic gastroplasty for esophagectomy.
Rays, 2005Minimally invasive surgery is currently becoming an accepted approach to esophageal cancer treatment. At the authors' Department laparoscopic gastroplasty is used in combination to either transhiatal or transthoracic esophagectomy, associated with left cervicotomy and right thoracotomy, respectively.

Vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) is the construction of a small vertical pouch using a linear stapler, with addition of a Marlex band placed through a window formed by a circular stapler. Compared to gastric bypass, VBG maintains a more normal anatomy of the upper gastrointestinal tract.

Critical appraisal of horizontal gastroplasty
The American Journal of Surgery, 1987We evaluated 77 consecutive patients who had undergone horizontal gastroplasty over a 2 year period. Mean follow-up was 26 months (88 percent of patients) and ranged from 15 to 45 months. There were no operative deaths. Early complications were common.

Gastroplasty Combined with Partial Fundoplication
Scandinavian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1980Gastroplasty, as proposed by Collis, combined with fundoplication of varying degree, has been increasingly used during recent years for management of hiatal hernia complicated by shortened oesophagus and oesophageal stricture. A modification of this procedure using 180 degree fundoplication and the transthoracic-transdiaphragmatic approach is described.

Laparoscopic Butterfly Gastroplasty
2021Butterfly gastroplasty is a new restrictive bariatric technique effective in the long term control of morbid obesity especially for the bulk eaters Construction of a butterfly gastroplasty (micro funnel shaped pouch) limited to the cardia theoretically avoids rapid weight regain as other restrictive procedures.

Collis gastroplasty: Origin and evolution
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1990In 1957 J. Leigh Collis published his innovative operation for treating the difficult problem of the irreducible hiatal hernia, esophagitis, and stricture. The design of the operation was based on the relatively primitive understanding of hiatal hernia and the newly emerging concept of reflux esophagitis. A variety of antireflux operations by different

This restrictive weight loss operation was originally developed by Dr. Edward Mason at the University of Iowa in 1982. Over the years, this open restrictive operation for morbid obesity has fallen out of favor in lieu of gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy.
