The American Journal of Surgery, 1941Abstract The difficulties involved in the clinical diagnosis of phytobezoar are well illustrated by this case. Since the symptoms so closely simulated those found in other types of gastric pathology, it is not surprising that they suggested either gastric ulcer or carcinoma.

It therefore seems appropriate to report the following two cases of phytobezoar in which these vegetable-matter, gastric concretions, at first strongly suspected to be gastric tumors, were accurately diagnosed only by gastroscopic biopsy.
