The inflammatory response of the gastric mucosa of mice experimentally infected with “Gastrospirillum suis” [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1993
To establish an experimental model to study gastric spiral non-cultivable bacteria, 30 4-week-old female CFW (LOB) mice were inoculated with porcine gastric mucus containing "Gastrospirillum suis" and 25 mice were inoculated with mucus without "G. suis". Mice were examined 3, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 60 days after inoculation.

Experimental infection of Wistar rats with ‘Gastrospirillum suis’ [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1996
In order to develop a model for the study of gastric spiral bacteria, and based on the observation that Wistar rats do not carry urease-positive spiral bacteria in their gastric mucosa, mucus from a pig naturally colonised by 'Gastrospirillum suis' (an organism with I6S rDNA 99.5% similar to that of 'G.

Histopathological study of porcine gastric mucosa with and without a spiral bacterium („Gastrospirillum suis”) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1991
Tightly spiralled bacteria ("Gastrospirillum suis") were seen in the pyloric mucosa of the stomach of 13 (10.8%) of 120 pigs that appeared clinically healthy at slaughter and in the fundic mucosa of three (5.0%) out of 60 pigs. The spiral organism could not be cultured from any pig.

Gastritis Induced by the Helicobacter ‘Gastrospirillum Hominis’

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 1994
A patient with a ‘Gastrospirillum hominis’ infection in the stomach is described. ‘Gastrospirillum hominis’ belongs to the genus Helicobacter and is a rare cause of gastritis in the human stomach. It can be recognized by its distinctive morphological appearance on histology.

Global Trend on Machine Learning in Helicobacter within One Decade: A Scientometric Study

open access: yesGlobal Health, Epidemiology and Genomics, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Purpose. This study aims to create a science map, provide structural analysis, investigate evolution, and identify new trends in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) research articles. Methods. All Helicobacter publications were gathered from the Web of Science (WoS) database from August 2010 to 2021. The data were required for bibliometric analysis.

Ultrastructure of a spiral micro-organism from pig gastric mucosa ("Gastrospirillum suis") [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1990
The ultrastructural features of a helical-shaped bacterium occurring in the stomach of pigs, within the mucus on the mucosal surface of antral pits, were examined. The bacterial cell had three to eight spiral turns, flattened and truncated ends and was approximately 4.0 microns long and 0.6 microns wide.

Mouse inoculation for the detection of non-cultivable gastric tightly spiralled bacteria

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1998
In the present study we compared the inoculation of swine gastric mucus into the stomach of mice, the urease test and carbolfuchsin-stained smears for the diagnosis of the infection with "Gastrospirillum suis" ("Helicobacter heilmannii" type 1), an ...

Topographic Mapping of Collagenous Gastritis

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 15, Issue 7, Page 475-478, 2001., 2001
A 74‐year‐old woman was investigated for abdominal pain and diarrhea. Endoscopic examinations including biopsies of the stomach and colon demonstrated the typical subepithelial deposits characteristic of collagenous gastritis and collagenous colitis.

The Updated Sydney System: Classification and Grading of Gastritis as the Basis of Diagnosis and Treatment

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 15, Issue 9, Page 591-598, 2001., 2001
In recent years, the importance of the histological diagnosis of gastritis on the basis of routinely obtained antral and corpus biopsies has increased enormously, which is owed not least of all to the discovery of Helicobacter pylori. The introduction of the Sydney system made it possible, for the first time, to grade histological parameters, identify ...
