“Gate Closed”:

2023
The COVID-19 pandemic led to restrictions on movement, with the closure of borders and quarantines. But, did this stop the movement of people through Libya and across the Mediterranean Sea? The push and pull theory of migration suggests that more obstacles would reduce the number of people making this crossing. However, this research found the opposite.

Aquaporin gating

Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2006
An acceleration in the rate at which new aquaporin structures are determined means that structural models are now available for mammalian AQP0, AQP1, AQP2 and AQP4, bacterial GlpF, AqpM and AQPZ, and the plant SoPIP2;1. With an apparent consensus emerging concerning the mechanism of selective water transport and proton extrusion, emphasis has shifted ...

500 Gates GaAs Gate Array

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1983
High speed GaAs DCFL gate array consisting of 500 3-INPUT NOR gates, in which 2000 FETs are integrated, has been successfully fabricated by a Pt buried gate planar E/D process technology. Eleven different 15-stage ring oscillators were made on this gate array to investigate the dependence of gate performance on various loading conditions.

Gating Mechanisms of Voltage-Gated Proton Channels

Annual Review of Biochemistry, 2015
Hv1 is a voltage-gated proton-selective channel that plays critical parts in host defense, sperm motility, and cancer progression. Hv1 contains a conserved voltage-sensor domain (VSD) that is shared by a large family of voltage-gated ion channels, but it lacks a pore domain.

Multipulse gate-delayed range gating imaging lidar

Optics Letters, 2011
We present a technique to reconstruct a higher resolution of depth map of range gating imaging lidar by applying the delays of the gates to a typical range gating lidar system during the detection of each returned laser pulse with the encoding of the returned signal. With the consequent delays of the gate, the depth of the scene is extended accordingly.

Stacked Gate FinFET with Gate Extension for Improved Gate Control

Russian Microelectronics, 2018
Referring to the experimental data available, a modified pile gate bulk FinFET device with trapezoidal cross-section is analyzed through this paper. Two special features of Pile gate FinFET are trapezoidal cross-section and extended gate. The comprehensive performance metrics analysis justifies its improved performanceas compared to normal bulk FinFET.

Gated communities, gated life

Ionic pores, gates, and gating currents

Quarterly Reviews of Biophysics, 1974
The current phase of axon physiology began with the invention of the voltage clamp by Cole (1949) and its use by Hodgkin & Huxley (1952d) to produce an astonishingly complete analysis of the ionic permeabilities that are responsible for the action potential.
