Neuroprotective effect of mild hypothermia in the temporary brain ischemia in cats Efeito neuroprotetor da hipotermia leve na isquemia cerebral focal temporária em gatos

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2007
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the neuroprotective effect of mild hypothermia during temporary focal ischemia in cats. METHOD: 20 cats underwent middle cerebral artery 60 minutes occlusion and 24 hours reperfusion: 10 under normothermia and 10 under mild ...

Quantifying temporal dynamics of greenhouse gas emissions in lake mesocosms: Deployment of a low‐cost measurement system

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, Volume 24, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from freshwater ecosystems contribute significantly to global carbon budgets, yet they remain poorly constrained due to limited high‐frequency measurements. We tested a low‐cost, high‐frequency GHG measurement system in a long‐term mesocosm experiment in Lemming, Denmark, over a 7‐month period, focusing on CO2 ...

Transmasculine Pregnancy and the Limits of Reproductive Citizenship: Cisnormativity and Governance in Healthcare Systems in Brazil

open access: yesSexuality, Gender &Policy, Volume 9, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines transmasculine pregnancy as a critical lens through which to analyze the intersections of cisnormativity, reproductive governance, and reproductive citizenship within healthcare systems. While existing research has documented barriers faced by transgender populations, less attention has been paid to how institutional and ...

Elevated Spring Methane Emissions in a Sub‐Arctic Peatland Fen

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The Arctic boreal region is rapidly shifting in response to global climate change, including rapid warming and permafrost thaw. Year‐round monitoring of carbon fluxes in these regions is crucial to understanding seasonal and annual carbon budgets, including methane (CH4), a potent greenhouse gas with 80 times the warming potential of carbon ...

Uncovering correlates of decline and critical refuges for a threatened terrestrial mammal

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Globally, the geographic ranges of numerous species are contracting. Identifying spatiotemporal patterns of threat impact can illuminate why species decline in some parts of their range but persist in others. We developed a correlative approach to identify species’ response thresholds and locate ecological refuge areas associated with ...

Mechanistic‐Statistical Inference of Mosquito Dynamics From Mark‐Release‐Recapture Data

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, Volume 68, Issue 3, July 2026.
Mark‐release‐recapture data contain valuable information on mosquito dispersal and survival, but this information is only indirectly observed through trap counts. We combine a mechanistic diffusion model with a statistical observation model to infer movement, mortality, and trap efficiency jointly.

Sediment transport outweighs flow resumption mode as a driver of river carbon and nitrogen dynamics in a temporary stream

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Although transitions from dry‐to‐flowing conditions in non‐perennial rivers are recognized as biogeochemical hot moments, the drivers modulating these hot moments remain poorly understood. We identify two main drivers of importance for biogeochemical processes during flow resumption: the dry‐to‐flow mode, referring to how flow is re ...
