Metasurfaces and Metadevices for Topological Electromagnetic Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Optical topologies refer to diverse topological localized structures made by diverse parameters of light fields, such as vortices, skyrmions, and hopfions. This article navigates a direction of metasurface‐based integrated devices for generation, manipulation and detection of novel topologies of light, which would be a rapidly growing interdisciplinary

Quadratic Gauss Sums

open access: yesFinite Fields and Their Applications, 1998
Let \(m\) be an odd positive integer, \(n\) an arbitrary positive integer, and \(p\) a prime which does not divide \(m\). Let \(\mathbb{F}_{p}\) be a prime finite field, \(\mathbb{F}_{q}\) a finite extension of \(\mathbb{F}_{p}\) of degree \(f\), so \(q=p^{f}\), and \( \chi\) a multiplicative character of \(\mathbb{F}_{q}\) of order \(m\). If \( \zeta_{

Covalent Attachment of a Platinum(II) Complex inside DNA Duplexes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
Oxidative addition is used for the site‐specific incorporation of an organometallic PtII complex as an artificial nucleobase into a DNA duplex. The platination stabilizes the duplex and confers it with phosphorescence. An organometallic phosphorescent PtII complex is introduced into DNA duplexes via oxidative addition to a tailor‐made artificial ...

Pyrrolic‐Nitrogen‐Enriched Aerogels With Magnetic Responsiveness Enable Cooperative Hydrogen‐Bond Regulation for High‐Performance Solar Interfacial Evaporation

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A pyrrolic‐nitrogen‐enriched ferromagnetic aerogel enables sophisticated cooperative regulation of hydrogen bonding, whereby this dual‐regulatory mechanism effectively reduces vaporization enthalpy while simultaneously enhancing molecular dynamics. The system demonstrates exceptional self‐cleaning capability and exhibits superior performance in the ...

regAL: Python package for active learning of regression problems

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
Increasingly more research areas rely on machine learning methods to accelerate discovery while saving resources. Machine learning models, however, usually require large datasets of experimental or computational results, which in certain fields—such as ...

Gauss–type quadrature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Walter Gautschi’s work in this area has had a profound impact, especially on the computational and practical aspects of Gauss quadrature. I have heard people refer to it as Gautschian quadrature, just to emphasize Walter’s many contributions to the theory and computation.

Copper(II), a Peculiar Metal Ion for Complexation with Monensin A Ionophore

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Copper(II) forms three chiral and EPR‐active complexes with monensinate A in methanol. Beside the bis [CuL2] and mono [CuL]+ species, the new dinuclear construct [Cu2L]3+ exhibits an [ML]+‐type and a metal salt‐type copper(II) centers weakly bound to each other through counter ion(s) and thus, being magnetically independent.
