A radiating star in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We generate a radiating star in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity for spacetime dimension N=5 and a shear-free geometry. The temporal boundary condition contains curvature corrections from the Lovelock tensor and reduces to the general relativity limit.

Mixed Super‐Circles

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We introduce mixed super‐circles, a position‐curvature formulation of the original dynamic 2D super‐helix model. Compared to the latter, purely curvature‐based model – the so‐called chained formulation –, the mixed formulation that we propose here drastically reduces the algorithmic complexity of the solving scheme – from quadratic to quasi ...

Neutral surfaces in neutral four-spaces

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 1990
Properties of the Gauss map of neutral surfaces are studied. Special attention is given to surfaces of parallel, or zero, mean curvature. Bilagrangian structures are defined and used in ways analogous to the use of complex structures in the Riemannian ...

High Cycle Fatigue Properties of PM‐HIPed High‐Nitrogen Tool Steel: Effect of Surface Condition

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores the impact of surface condition on high‐cycle fatigue performance of a high‐nitrogen martensitic tool steel manufactured through powder metallurgy and hot isostatic pressing. In near‐net manufacturing applications, acid‐leaching pickling treatment and/or machining is used as a post‐treatment to remove the powder container ...

Distributional and Tail‐Dependent Perspectives in Economic Relationships: A Review of Quantile Regression Application

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There is an increased proportion of studies using quantile‐based regression methodology (QR) in economics. They offer a robust alternative to classical mean regressions, which can estimate non‐normal variables with distributional heterogeneity in the dependent variable.

Reinforcement Learning for Jump‐Diffusions, With Financial Applications

open access: yesMathematical Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study continuous‐time reinforcement learning (RL) for stochastic control in which system dynamics are governed by jump‐diffusion processes. We formulate an entropy‐regularized exploratory control problem with stochastic policies to capture the exploration–exploitation balance essential for RL.

Area and Gauss–Bonnet inequalities with scalar curvature

open access: yesCommentarii Mathematici Helvetici
The Gauss–Bonnet theorem states for any compact surface (S,g) that the quantity Q^{S}_{GB}(S)=\int_{S} \operatorname{Sc}(S,s)\,\mathrm{d}s+\int_{\partial S}\mathrm{mean.

A geophysical investigation of the Roter Kamm impact crater, Namibia

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The Roter Kamm impact crater is located in the southern Namib Desert. The crater has a diameter of 2.5 km and belongs to the category of simple, bowl‐shaped impact craters, with an elevated rim of fractured target rock. The crater's interior is completely buried beneath sediments, preventing extensive surface investigations of the bedrock ...

Spheres, tears, and spears: Regulating the perimeter and circularity of millimeter‐sized alginate hydrogel beads

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 72, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Generating hydrogel beads pertains to many engineering applications. We examined two alginate‐based fluids at three concentrations of alginate, cAG. We used the “Map of Misery” to determine which material property (viscosity, elasticity, and inertia) drives droplet formation. Next, we measured the perimeter and circularity of hydrogel beads as
