On a Gauss-Kuzmin type problem for piecewise fractional linear maps with explicit invariant measure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2000
A random system with complete connections associated with a piecewise fractional linear map with explicit invariant measure is defined and its ergodic behaviour is investigated. This allows us to obtain a variant of Gauss-Kuzmin type problem for the

Conformal deformations preserving the Gauss map [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics, 1992
We establish conditions on a conformal immersion of a Riemannian manifold in the Euclidean space for the existence of another conformal immersion with the same Gauss map. For surfaces in \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\) these conditions are expressed by a partial differential equation envolving the principal curvatures.

The Gauss map and total curvature of complete minimal Lagrangian surfaces in the complex two-space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The purpose of this paper is to reveal the relationship between the total curvature and the global behavior of the Gauss map of a complete minimal Lagrangian surface in the complex two-space. To achieve this purpose, we show the precise maximal number of

Anomalous Spin‐Optical Helical Effect in Ti‐Based Kagome Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The kagome lattice hosts diverse correlated quantum states, including elusive loop currents. We report spin‐handedness selective signals in CsTi3Bi5, termed the anomalous spin‐optical helical effect, surpassing conventional spin responses. Arising from light helicity coupled to spin‐orbital correlations, this effect provides a sensitive, indirect probe

Pulsed DC Sputter Deposition of Stable Turbostratic Boron Nitride Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Boron nitride (BN) films are deposited by sputtering from a boron target. During deposition, a substrate bias voltage is applied between the plasma and the sample, which reduces excess boron in the film and enhances the crystallinity. This process prevents the formation of boric acid and ammonium borate hydrate.

Real-time 6DoF localization with relative poses to walls of buildings

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
This paper presents a real-time 6DoF localization method which corrects accumulative error by estimating relative poses to building walls for mobile robots in urban areas. This method exploits a fact that most of all artificial walls are built vertically.

Crack Repair in Hydroxyapatite Bioceramics Using an Ultraviolet Ultrafast Laser

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The study proposes an ultrafast ultraviolet laser approach to repair hidden tooth cracks, which has been preliminarily validated on HAP. Moreover, this technique aims to strengthen the native enamel structure rather than introducing a foreign filling material.

The Gauss map and 2 + 1 gravity [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 1994
We prove that the Gauss map of a surface of constant mean curvature embedded in Minkowski space is harmonic. This fact will then be used to study 2+1 gravity for surfaces of genus higher than one. By considering the energy of the Gauss map, a canonical transform between the ADM reduced variables and holonomy variables can be constructed.

On the Gauss map of ruled surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 1992
Let M2 be a (connected) surface in Euclidean 3-space E3, and let G:M2→S2(1) ⊂ E3 be its Gauss map. Then, according to a theorem of E. A. Ruh and J. Vilms [3], M2 is a surface of constant mean curvature if and only if, as a map from M2 to S2(1), G is harmonic, or equivalently, if and only ifwhere δ is the Laplace operator on M2 corresponding to the ...

The Moebius geometry of Wintgen ideal submanifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Wintgen ideal submanifolds in space forms are those ones attaining equality pointwise in the so-called DDVV inequality which relates the scalar curvature, the mean curvature and the scalar normal curvature. They are Moebius invariant objects.
