Nonclassicality by Local Gaussian Unitary Operations for Gaussian States

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
A measure of nonclassicality N in terms of local Gaussian unitary operations for bipartite Gaussian states is introduced. N is a faithful quantum correlation measure for Gaussian states as product states have no such correlation and every non

Generating Functions of the Products of Bivariate Complex Fibonacci Polynomials with Gaussian Numbers and Polynomials

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications, 2020
In this paper, we define and study the bivariate complex Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials. We introduce a operator in order to derive some new symmetric properties of bivariate complex Fibonacci and bivariate complex Lucas polynomials, and give the ...

Observation impact in data assimilation: the effect of non-Gaussian observation error [PDF]

open access: yesTellus: Series A, Dynamic Meteorology and Oceanography, 2013
Data assimilation methods which avoid the assumption of Gaussian error statistics are being developed for geoscience applications. We investigate how the relaxation of the Gaussian assumption affects the impact observations have within the assimilation ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Gaussian zonoids, Gaussian determinants and Gaussian random fields

open access: yesTheory of Probability and Mathematical Statistics
We study the Vitale zonoid (a convex body related to a probability distribution) associated to a non-centered Gaussian vector. This defines a family of convex bodies, that contains and generalizes ellipsoids, which we call Gaussian zonoids. We show that each Gaussian zonoid can be approximated by an ellipsoid that we compute explicitely.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Supporting GENP with Random Multipliers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We prove that standard Gaussian random multipliers are expected to stabilize numerically both Gaussian elimination with no pivoting and block Gaussian elimination.

Local Gaussian operations can enhance continuous-variable entanglement distillation

open access: yes, 2011
Entanglement distillation is a fundamental building block in long-distance quantum communication. Though known to be useless on their own for distilling Gaussian entangled states, local Gaussian operations may still help to improve non-Gaussian ...

Elasticity of Gaussian and nearly Gaussian phantom networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2000
We study the elastic properties of phantom networks of Gaussian and nearly-Gaussian springs. We show that the stress tensor of a Gaussian network coincides with the conductivity tensor of an equivalent resistor network, while its elastic constants vanish.

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.
