Review of local non-Gaussianity from multi-field inflation

open access: yes, 2010
Byrnes C, Choi K-Y. Review of local non-Gaussianity from multi-field inflation. Advances in astronomy. 2010;2010:1-18.We review models which generate a large non-Gaussianity of the local form. We first briefly consider three models which generate the non-

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Buffon's Problem determines Gaussian Curvature in three Geometries

open access: yes
A version of the classical Buffon problem in the plane naturally extends to the setting of any Riemannian surface with constant Gaussian curvature. The Buffon probability determines a Buffon deficit.

Patterning of multicomponent elastic shells by gaussian curvature

open access: yesPhysical Review E
Recent findings suggest that shell protein distribution and morphology of bacterial microcompartments regulate the chemical fluxes facilitating reactions which dictate their biological function. We explore how the morphology and component patterning are coupled through the competition of mean and Gaussian bending energies in multicomponent elastic ...

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Deriving the shape of the surface from its Gaussian curvature

open access: yes, 2019
A global statement about a compact surface with constant Gaussian curvature is derived by elementary differential geometry methods. Surfaces and curves embedded in three-dimensional Euclidian space are introduced, as well as several key properties such ...

Negative Gaussian curvature induces significant suppression of thermal conduction in carbon crystals

open access: yes, 2017
From the mathematic category of surface Gaussian curvature, carbon allotropes can be classified into three types: zero curvature, positive curvature, and negative curvature.

Flexible Dielectric Acoustic Resonator Patch for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible dielectric acoustic resonator patch enables MHz‐range ultrasound generation through resonance amplification without using piezoelectric materials. Conformal integration on a curved substrate allows efficient acoustic delivery to tissue‐mimicking environments.
