Fast re-parameterisation of gaussian mixture models for robotics applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Autonomous navigation and picture compilation tasks require robust feature descriptions or models. Given the non-Gaussian nature of sensor observations, it will be shown that Gaussian mixture models provide a general probabilistic representation allowing

Swelling‐Programmed Topographical Guidance for Dynamic Spheroid Self‐Assembly via a Mechanochemical Hydrogel Niche

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A swelling‐programmed micropatterned hydrogel guides adherent cells through a controlled transition from cell–matrix anchoring to cadherin‐mediated cell–cell compaction, enabling rapid assembly of high‐viability spheroids with defined size and morphology.

A fast level set segmentation algorithm for sonar images driven by Gaussian Mixture Model probability

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
Sonar images are frequently degraded by speckle noise due to the inherent scattering properties of acoustic signals, leading to blurred edges, low contrast, and uneven grayscale distributions.

Simulating mixture of sub-Gaussian spatial data [PDF]

open access: yesAUT Journal of Mathematics and Computing
Spatial datasets may contain extreme values and exhibit heavy tails. So, the Gaussianity assumption for the corresponding random field is not reasonable. A sub-Gaussian α-stable (SGαS) random field may be more suitable as a model for heavy-tailed spatial

On the entropy and information of Gaussian mixtures

open access: yesMathematika
AbstractWe establish several convexity properties for the entropy and Fisher information of mixtures of centred Gaussian distributions. Firstly, we prove that if are independent scalar Gaussian mixtures, then the entropy of is concave in , thus confirming a conjecture of Ball, Nayar and Tkocz (2016) for this class of random variables.

Fully Additive Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors on Renewable and Compostable Substrates Enable Ultrasensitive Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fully additive vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) with channel‐length of 226 nm on a 50 µm compostable substrate achieve >106 current modulation and ∼36 mS transconductance. Ion‐selective integration enables 1.1 mA dec−1 sensitivity and 36 µm detection limit, highlighting a scalable platform for sustainable electronics and ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Object Tracking with Multiple Instance Learning and Gaussian Mixture Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Recently, Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) technique has been introduced for object tracking\linebreak applications, which has shown its good performance to handle drifting problem. While some instances in positive bags not only contain objects, but also
