Regional Shopping Objectives in British Grocery Retail Transactions Using Segmented Topic Models

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Volume 42, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding the customer behaviours behind transactional data has high commercial value in the grocery retail industry. Customers generate millions of transactions every day, choosing and buying products to satisfy specific shopping needs.

Machine Learning-Driven Prediction of CO2 Solubility in Brine: A Hybrid Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO)-Assisted Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) Approach

open access: yesEnergies
The solubility of CO2 in brine systems is critical for both carbon storage and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications. In this study, Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) with eight different kernels was optimized using the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) algorithm to model this important phase behavior.

Predicting solar cell efficiencies using historical data from a manufacturing process

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 2401-2415, May 2026.
Abstract The solar cell manufacturing data of a passivated emitter and rear cell solar cell manufacturing plant was studied to assess the effects of tool usage and the processing time spent on each tool on the solar cell efficiency. Since manufacturing processes involve several steps with multiple tools, tracing their quality parameters back to the ...

Rhythms in longitudinal thalamic recordings are linked to seizure risk

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 2559-2571, May 2026.
Abstract Objective Seizure unpredictability remains a major clinical challenge for people with epilepsy. Previous works have shown that seizure risk is associated with circadian and multi‐day cycles in both brain and physiological signals. However, it remains unclear whether neural activity from deep brain structures such as the anterior nucleus of the

Linking Genetic Merit and Multi‐Trait Indices With Meteorological Controls to Maize Performance Across Multi‐Environment Trials

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 15, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Accurate evaluation of maize performance across diverse environments is essential for improving yield stability and cultivar adaptation under a changing climate. However, conventional breeding approaches often struggle to address multi‐trait trade‐offs and complex genotype‐by‐environment (G × E) interactions while explicitly incorporating ...

An Unfolding Story: AlphaFold's View on Protein Flexibility

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, Volume 109, Issue 5, May 2026.
AlphaFold confidence measures allow for detailed proteome‐wide characterization of protein flexibility. All flexibility measures increased substantially in the evolutionary transition from prokaryota to eukaryota. ABSTRACT The AlphaFold confidence measures are related to conformation distribution of the protein.

Epidemiological Features and Temporal Trends of Five Common Sexually Transmitted Infections Excluding HIV, 1990–2021: Findings From the Global Burden of Disease Study

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a major global health threat. A comprehensive assessment of their epidemiological features and future trajectories is essential for informing targeted public health policies and achieving international control targets.

Understanding Pressure‐Induced Photovoltaic Performance of Lead‐Free Ca3BiI3 Perovskite: A DFT and SCAPS‐1D Simulations Study

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
This research explores the structural, electronic, mechanical, and optical characteristics of lead‐free cubic Ca3BiI3 under hydrostatic pressure up to 15 GPa using first‐principles methods. The findings confirm that Ca3BiI3 becomes pressure‐dependent and has potential applications in advanced photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices.

Experimental and ANN Modeling of Mechanical Properties and Surface Quality in Multi‐Material FDM Printing: Effects of Retraction Parameters

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 37, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In fused deposition modeling (FDM), retraction related parameters are usually adjusted to reduce stringing and oozing; however, their combined effects on mechanical performance and surface quality, particularly in multi‐material printing, remain insufficiently quantified.

Integrated Experimental and Machine Learning‐Based Predictive Analysis of FDM Parameters for Conductive PLA‐Based Composites

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 37, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effects of fused deposition modeling (FDM) parameters on the tensile strength and electrical conductivity of conductive polylactic acid (PLA)‐based composites. An integrated experimental and machine learning (ML)‐based framework was used.
